Power Rangers Comic License Up for Grabs - Who Should Take it?

Between Marvel, DC and Image, I would prefer Marvel.
Image... Todd is a troublesome guy, all he touches have problems with publishing rights. DC is nice, but Marvel is the universe of charismatic characters like we have in Power Rangers. Actually, Avengers were created based in super sentai. Colorful team with a giant robot (Ant-man turning giant).

And Marvel would give you more crossovers. I mean, we could even see Star Wars X Marvel X PR crossover.

You do know that the Avengers were created way before Super Sentai.

Marvel and DC most likely wont take this property. I dont see why they would. Image is also not likely since they rarely do licensed properties anymore and are mostly focused on creator owned comics.

The best place for a PR comic would be IDW. They do great licensed books like the Cartoon Network stuff, TMNT, Transformers, Ghostbusters and Godzilla.

Personally I'd love to IDW do it. How much Saban hinders them or lets them be creative is the biggest hold up. The idea of a generic "Power Rangers" line that's more aimed at older fans and functions as a big team up series would be really cool, even give them the opportunity to make something reminiscent of the old Hexagon pitch. A PR comic can completely work, they're brightly colored super heroes descended from comic books basically. That said, its how much its allowed to breath as a comic and putting correct talent behind it. Some of the bigger issues with PR comics in the past were them being glorified picture books of just the big explosion moments and nothing else. Need to have some sort of compelling narrative to make it interesting.

I take it hey; anything's better than Saban right? I still have doubts as to whenever PR can work as a comic but at least the idea's picking up stream.

That's because those people that have posted are the ones that voted for IDW. People that voted for Marvel didn't want to put their two-cents in.

IDW, Id love to see a more expanded universe for PR, and IDW does do some great things with TFs and TMNT.

You know Marvel's deals with Toei is what created Sentai, right? Like, literally

Avengers basically forged the foothold for Sentai (Since Battle Fever was gonna be a Marvel property (Cap, I think) before the deal fell through)

Well technically Gorenger and J.A.K.Q. came before the deal. So no, the Toei-Marvel partnership didn’t create Sentai, it just introduced many tropes that are used to this day, like the giant transforming robot from Supaidaman.

I think what you mean is that Battle Fever J (which really was intended as Japans Captain America) introduced the term "Super Sentai" that wasn’t applied to Gorenger and J.A.K.Q. until 1995 when they were officially included as the first two shows.

Don't ask me why I know this, I don't even like Sentai, but the history behind it (and Tokusatsu in general) is very interesting.
