Shame I'm consuming the series so slowly lately because I'm coupling it with SPD and looking for jobs but at least it keeps me hooked, can't wait to see what happens next!

Kiva 34 and 35:
Taiga doesn't actually seem to despise humans, which is weird. I mean, I guess you could just say that being King is his job, but seeing as that job consists of making sure humanity doesn't progress, you'd think there'd be a little more animosity. Speaking of animosity, Kengo's seems to want to go full douchebag wearing by wearing army pants and greasing up his hair like a tool. His random beating up of Nago in 34 was almost funny...But him doing the same thing the next one when Nago was injured? Yeah, not cool... Surprisingly, to me, I actually caught the accent change form the Kansai one to the...other one? Normally, I can't tell the difference, but when they pointed it out, I went back and checked. And yeah! He actually did sound a bit different. And now he has IXA...great. Man, so everyone form the past plot's lives are fucked up in the future. Well...not Shima and coffee shop owner guy. They're exactly the same. But, Yuri and Otoya are dead. Maya...has lost an eye and lives in a cave?! Felt real bad for her at the end there too. And the arms monsters are stuck forever in a giant castl-No, wait. They can leave any time. Someday, I'm going to learn to play violin really good, so I can turn into a robot phoenix-dragon too. |

Episode 39 of Kuuga was an...okay episode. I don't really know why they bothered to add two UL attacking at the same time as they completely rushed the fight between Acid and Kuuga, even after all the build up. Even for Kuuga that was disappointing.
Thankfully the fight with Number 3 was slightly better mainly because Number 3 is no longer taking any of your shit and the introduction of Daguva was clearly inspired by Evil Dead, one of my all time favourite horror films. They kept Super Number Three around long enough to establish just how powerful he is, before killing him off to show just how powerful what comes next is. Awesome. And wow so Ichijou is legit gay? I love how when you think back it's all so obvious and even when they do the reveal, they do it subtly and move on. Being gay doesn't define Ichijou and it shouldn't. I'm just impressed a fifteen year old Japanese kids TV show can write better gay characters than all those modern shows that want to be 'hip and progressive'. This show certainly just earned a lot more points in my book and I was completely enamoured with Ichijou's character already. He and Midnighter are the only two gay characters I know done perfectly, sadly Midnighter is slightly ahead for taking vengeance for his boyfriend by raping a man with a jackhammer.

Finishing Ryuki episode 3, Im treated to another installement of "irrational idiots caught on film" with this little gem:
"My brother created the rider decks. If my brother told you to defeat the other riders, maybe he's the one making monsters attack people." "Or maybe he created the decks to protect people from the monsters?" "You have no proof of that." NEITHER DO YOU YOU DUMB IDIOT. You pull nonsense out of your ass and accuse your own brother based on vague details from someone who barely met him, and when they present you with a completely understandable and logical idea given the circumstances, and you call them out for "lack of proof." Awefully Wizard in here... |
