So Mandrake have replied now...and the postage is 15 quid! That is a fiver away from the actual toy, I'm not sure I'm willing to pay over thirty quid for Pegasus, I kind of expect that from like Amazon who rip you off but Jesus.
It didn't make clear what the postage was so I just went with EMS, is that like the most expensive shipping option or is Mandrake just very expensive to buy from anyway? And if there is a cheaper option am I able to change my postage choice? This is why when you've asked about shipping prices in the past I've said choose SAL, because while it takes longer its usually no more than than £5.

Because it was like 2 - 4, 3 - 5 days or two weeks - two months. Can I change my shipping option?

Nope. You were told what shipping would be the cheapest, which is SAL. Honestly, I would rather have it shipped via a trackable method and pay for shipping and have it in 2 days than a tracking method that is going to take who knows how long. I have no idea what your price is since I'm not familiar with quid, but when I order one figure, I usually pay between $14-19 for shipping through DHL.

A quid is a pound. The postage was over twenty dollars if we wanna use that currency, mental! I emailed the international email and asked them to cancel my old order and I've put in another order with SAL postage instead.
I wish they'd just tell me on the page how much my shipping is going to cost, that is a big part of the reason I usually use HLJ or Amazon, it may cost more but at least I know how much I am paying and don't have to basically wait days to find out I don't want to pay that much.

$20 for EMS is absolutely not mental, in fact its very cheap, no matter what's being sent! It's absolutely crazy to complain about that. I'm sorry, but you should be getting an idea about postage costs yourself before claiming foul play on Mandarake's part or even making the order in the first place and honestly you should've guessed that it'd be more expensive by the fact that they do tell you the time difference between the different postages and that EMS is trackable and insured and a quick Google would've given you confirmation on the price difference. If you don't want to pay express prices, don't order express. As well as getting the item in a quarter (or less) of the time, you are able to track it and it is insured, which it is not in SAL (if the item's lost, you're out of pocket as long as they prove it was sent, for example).
From what I understand, Mandarake actually package, address and weigh the parcel to get an accurate postage charge, that's why you don't get it until the order's confirmed. They're not charging a flat postage fee. Last edited by Starscream Gaga; 06-10-2013 at 10:16 AM.. |

And I'm sorry if you don't know this but they don't cancel orders very often. Usually when they do, they ban that user from the service. It's all laid out up front how it works so they expect people to know how to use it. It's just like Amiami and their pre-orders. You say you've placed a second order but I hope you're prepared to pay for both now. It clearly states in their FAQ's that they do not cancel orders.

I've never needed to before, I've only used HLJ and Amazon and they just tell me the postage flat out. As do pretty much every other website. But I'm quite shocked at how expensive EMS is, I'll never understand why people are happy to pay almost as much for postage as they are their item but then I'm not some hardcore collector so yeah.
AmiAmi and now Mandrake are the only websites I've come across where you have to gamble with an order and hope the postage isn't too expensive. Everyone jumps in their defence but to me this seems like a ludicrous shopping model. And I really have no clue why so many are so keen to defend it. Imagine trying to buy an item of clothing in the shops and you get to the til and they tell you you have to pay for the item twice. It's not the same thing, sure, but in terms of money it is. Really? The email says otherwise about cancellations.

1) Can I cancel my order?
We do not accept an order cancellation or cancellation of items. By any chance, if you cancel without notifying us, or if you make too many cancellations, you will not be able to place an order through our mail order service in the future. Mandarake have the right to cancel or deny the future orders if the customer have canceled an order, canceled an item, or have unpaid orders in the past. Therfore, please place the order only if you really want the item and have enough funds to pay. Although we normally do do not accept cancellations or exchanges. We will accept it if there is a problem with the item which was not described on the item page. Please ask questions about the item before placing the order if the description is not clear to you.

Well if they ban me on just one cancellation, when I am technically still buying the item from them, just with a different shipping option then that is their loss, not mine. I can always grab the same figure, with much cheaper postage on eBay.
I don't have a massive collection but I've got a small collection of Figuarts and never needed to use this site before, so I'm not really broken up about it.

I've had to cancel orders in the past without problem, but I've also heard from people that they were banned for doing so. Just be polite and I'm sure there won't be a problem.
