So watched the episodes with subs and they improved greatly on my viewing experience and HD certainly helped with that as well. The episode was paced really well with not too much information crammed into it but enough that you get a grasp of the characters and what the conflict is going to be. The episode gets the job done in terms of getting our heroes from point A to point B but doesnt do very much with it. I dont need episodes on episodes for them to decide if they wanna do this or not so this was really nice. The characters are also very basic right now but this should improve within the next few episodes. Takaharu, Fuuka and their Dad got the most focus but thats completely fine for a first episode since that gives us a really good idea for three characters already. And since Sentai is rarely an ensemble cast show its good to see that our main character Takaharu has its personality pretty fleshed out by the end of this episode.
The comedy in this show is also pretty hit for me. Only one I didnt go crazy for were the Wanmaru jokes but I didnt hate them either. Most of the jokes I found were really funny though and werent too overly silly and goofy. My absolute highlight for this show so far is the simple fact that this shows fight scenes are so extremely basic in all the right ways. There was very little use of wires or green screening when the heroes did their fights. Most of it was just the suit actors being incredibly good at their jobs. The opening scene alone with Takaharu doing all those flips, bouncing off of trees or sliding along the ground to get his sword just made me a very happy Convoy. The miniatures and animatronics in the mecha fight were also a real delight and impressive to look at. The highlight of the episode by far though was Shinobimaru. The suit actor did a remarkable job in those scenes and I have never seen a giant fight in toku that was this fast paced, natural and full of complicated acrobatic maneuvers without looking clumsy. So yeah count me in for this show. |

I loved so much of this show. All the characters felt very unique and dynamic very early. I loved all of them very fast. It's great to see a Red inspire his team very early on, Takaharu's fearless attitude I absolutely love. Yakumo/Cloud is my favorite, I like how he fights, and figures out things pretty fast; also his entrance was awesome. I also love DragonMaru so much. Nagi is a lot of fun, I love that he causes mischief. Kasumi was pretty cool I love her techniques a lot, and Fuuka was great too trying to hide that she is like her Dad and Brother more than she'd like to admit. I also love the brother and sister element to Takaharu and Fuuka. This reminded me a lot of everything I loved from Kyoryuger and MagiRanger. This is one of my favorite first episodes of a Sentai ever I can't wait for more.

That was a pretty enjoyable first outing for Nininger it left a pretty good impression on me. I liked how they weren't eager to join in the fight, that I think worked well enough for me.

I think the pacing was actually better than ToQger, but I do agree there was a lot less mystery. I want to snuggle Fuuka. That is all. Someone else said that Takaharu seems a little like Daigo 2.0. That may be the case. I wasn't a big fan of Daigo's "Little Miss Sunshine" type of leadership performance, but at least in KyuRyuger, there was a need for that. We'll see with Takaharu. The actor himself doesn't scream "Shiny Happy". The end credits dancing however REALLY screams Vamola Mucho. I'm sure once they get some kids doing it, it'll be hi-freaking-larious. The music though is seriously old school flavor. I was expecting OhRanger to show up or DaiRanger. The weapons...oh I have to agree. They are definitely plastic, and probably will put an eye out. But it's to sell toyz.

The first episode is Ninninger was pretty damn awesome!! It is by far the best first episode since Gokaiger, maybe even since AbaRanger. It has a cast that seems pretty great and none of them are screaming or whining. The choreography was good. The mecha could be better design wise, but they to did a good job. Shinobimaru is just awesome because of all of the stunts the suit actor can pull off. It had the right mix of comedy and seriousness, which is something I have been wanting to see in a Sentai series for a while. It did also have a lot of vibes from DaiRanger, KakuRanger, GoGoV, Hurricanger, and Shinkenger in there, which is not a bad thing because it felt like it took the strong points of those series. Overall, this was an excellent first episode and I hope Toei can keep this up for 49ish more episodes.
