Since you have Braviary and Staraptor already covering Normal, I think it's okay to at least test out Night Slash on Unfezant, then. Simply keep Return in mind as an alternative if Night Slash doesn't prove useful. Unless your other birds can pass on status, maybe stick with Toxic. That one is a much tougher judgment call.

The EV reducing berries in Gen V/VI reduce a stat by ten per berry. Not sure I get the question beyond that.
