I've tried to get into Blade several times, but as I'm a big action junky the terrible effects always ruined the fun for me. It's a shame because it has some good ideas, and some good designs but my God those effects.

It was just weird stuff, like Blade would set up this huge attack and it would be awesome but then the enemy would just topple over and explode. Like couldn't he fly backwards even a few feet? I have no feeling of impact at all.

Or like when Garren gets that Rider kick where he pointlessly splits in half...and then kicks them in the shoulder and then they go shooting off to the side like a cartoon. Like it just looks terrible.

Like it was odd too because the actual fighting, like fists and swords was GREAT. The amount of sparks used in that show was overkill and Rider's like Chalice were awesomely savage and versatile, but those special moves man...

I can list quite easily the things that bug the shit out of me about Blade:

-Amane's creeptacular reverse pedo love for hajime

-Tachibana literally having no real convictions or drive at all, being evil half the time, and inconsistant or useless the rest. His 180 degree shifts in personality over the first 3 arcs kill him for me. I love his character by the end but he's unbearable early on.

-Mutsuki's flip flop nature with the Spider Undead. 1 minute he's fine and it's under control, the next episode he's wild again. The resolution of that stuff was great in the end, but it took FAR too long to resolve.

-The general lack of explanation for the Battle Fight by the end. We're given insights, we see the Stone of Sealing. That's cool. But the point of the original Battle Fight isn't ever clearly explained.

-Honestly the character motivations all around aren't entirely convincing to me. Out of all the characters involved only Hajime holds my interest. And even then half the time he's infuriatingly vague and agitative. To the point of killing crucial plots from time to time.

Overall I just can't care for that show. When there's something going on it's quick and will pass you right by. When there's nothing happening it drags on into forever.

I'm glad there are fans of the show, every show should have fans. But man Blade is not the show for me. The one saving grace is the awesome rider designs.

All this Blade talk is making me want to go watch the last episode of Decade where Kenzaki shows up.

Quick question: What's the best Rider movie to show someone without any context from the series. I've heard All riders vs Daishocker is a good stand alone movie but I don't know.

I thought the battle fight was to see who would become the top species on Earth. And then because everything was unsealed it started up again.

Blade is the best Rider series I've seen. Amane is annoying but at least she's not the focus in every episode.

Blade's writer change was a lot less noticeable than Hibiki or Decade's. This is likely because the writer had actually seen the show before and didn't want to completely reinvent it in his own image. The only real change noticeable is that the action ratchets up and Mutsuki stagnates for about 15 episodes.
