We aren't getting much exclusively. SDCC, despite taking place in the US, is very much an international crowd. It's also a effectively a trade show unrivaled in most of the world. It makes some sense to produce content for it, from an advertising standpoint.
Edit: BBCA is a paid premium channel here, not carried in all markets. Paris Comic Con had the first AAISAT trailer AND the TARDIS console on display. I rarely see people bringing that up. BBCA does contribute to the production costs of the series, but the last I heard the good ol' BBC still kicks in the lion's share. There are rumors that BBC Worldwide will get the reins to Who completely in the near future, though. Right now, despite growing popularity over here, it seems the production team is still focused on the UK above all others. I hope my thoughts make some sense. I'm totally strung out on painkillers at the moment and I'm not sure they do. |

I hope my thoughts make some sense. I'm totally strung out on painkillers at the moment and I'm not sure they do. Secondly I've had an inkling of the Beeb shifting Doctor Who away from BBC Wales. Patriotism demands I get a little irrate about that, but in all honestly? As long as the show's integrety isn't compromised by "outside hands" meddling in continuity I happy. (NB: see some of the rumours floating around on what the network slated to pick up Who after the Eighth Doctor movie wanted to do with it... scary stuff) I don't mind change, I'd just rather it not be taken out of the hands of the fans, and the people who love it. Money makes certain producers make just plain weird calls when it comes to this franchise. EDIT: To me, the console and the trailer for AAISAT are ranked significantly lower than the actual product aka proper episodes of DW. I think that's why so many people were thrown by the SDCC exclusive, because it wasn't just about a docudrama or a prop, it was, you know, an exclusive about something we were waiting for with baited breath. It just occurred to me that the Eleventh Doctor is perhaps his longest incarnation. Not broadcast years but years of his life.

I could be wrong, but isn't the series funded mainly by BBCA now days? Which if it is it'd make sense to market it more in America. Try and get as many viewers as possible, make it worth the investment. I'm also unaware of how BBCA works for America, but we pay the tv license so it's sort of paid for even if nobody watches it, In a kind of roundabout way =p
- Its a paid premium channel - BBC UK doesn't deal in long trailers - Doctor Who simply doesn't need that level of TV promotion here. Its already one of the biggest things on television and will be on the cover of every tv guide come next week. He's the 11th Doctor, 13th life.

Finally got round to watching the Five(ish) Doctors... freaking hilarious. Every moment of it. Tegan, Barrowman, Peter Jackson(!), Russel T Davies, David Tennant, Matt Smith, and, perhaps most importantly, Mathew Waterhouse.
But it also makes me feel warm inside: the BBC has managed to produce a 50th anniversary that features every Doctor that they can (Except 9... damn). But for now, only 4 days until the Time... Of the Doctor! |

Finally got a chance to watch The Enemy of the World and absolutely loved it, definitely one of my favourite Who watches for the year. It's a very different experience seeing the show tackle Bond style super villains rather than aliens, but Troughton is on top form in both roles and the story has great pacing that focuses on the scenario and the side characters just as much (if not more so) than the TARDIS crew.
If you're looking for a great piece of Who nostalgia that until 2013 was thought to be lost, this comes HIGHLY recommended.

I enjoyed Time of the Doctor, but I didn't think it was as good as the 50th. That's all I'll say until the rest of you get to see it. So I guess I'll be back tomorrow
![]() I feel stupid that I didn't realise the relevance of all the "... Of the Doctor" titles (bar the minisode) until today though.
