It is only not a disappointment for me as I haven't been able to follow Doctor Who for about three seasons now.

Same. Although I'm not a fan of this "regeneration energy = godly power" thing that's started happening either.

I was fine with it this time because the Doctor had just been pumped full of energy from Gallifrey. It makes sense that the energy discharge would be larger and more destructive this time. Hell, the Time Lords probably did that deliberately.

I kind of agree, but I think beating a centuries old Dalek onslaught with deus ex machina regeneration powers is a cop out of RTD proportions.

Finally finished.
A few thoughts. It was a very solid episode overall. I loved the idea of 11 dying of old age and the way they aged him he looked a tad bit like Hartnell. Now the Tardis hopping back and forth was silly but a necessary device to move the story I suppose. I too am frustrated that Gallifrey would appear to simply disappear again. But the way in which they restored his regenerations was very welcome. Here's where I'll disagree with some people. The appearance of Amy was entirely unnecessary and killed the moment for me. I didn't care for Karen Gillan and Arthur Darville outside of series 5 anyway. But to loop everything around back to her just seemed to take away from the impact of that brilliant speech 11 was giving. And what a brilliant speech it was! I understand that Amy was integral to his character but I just felt it wasn't necessary to have her appear. Amelia running around as a child would have been fine. Of course the Capaldi appearance can't be judged on 20 seconds or so ![]() If we want to talk about regen power as this huge destructive force, I'm starting to get more of a Highlander Quickening feeling from it. It's like every time it becomes more and more powerful. To the point that it's preposterous. But I enjoyed the surprise of the Daleks at the regenration. And finally THANK YOU for repairing that garbage plot point from Asylum. The greatest enemies of the Doctor not knowing who he is? Ridiculous.

I hated Amy, she is easily my least favourite companion. I hated how everyone judged her simply on the scale of how much they wanted to bone her, and I hated the way that Moffat became so obsessed with her it basically became her own show. The point of the companions is to be human, and normal, and to be our avatar into the world of Doctor Who.
Anyone wonder if the Doctor is starting from fresh, literally? He went into that huge rant about not forgetting which seemed a weird thing to say as the Doctor never forgets his lives. But if this is a fresh cycle of Regenerations, everything could be starting from scratch... So he will forget that life, and all the others, and hence why he couldn't fly the TARDIS.

I think you're reading too much into the can't fly the TARDIS thing, it was more likely just his post-regeneration madness. There's no way they'll start from scratch just because he has a new regeneration cycle.
