While I enjoyed Matt's performance, I was fairly disappointed with the Time of the Doctor, overall. Tasha Lem is yet another in a line of Moffat-penned female characters that leads me to believe he is a sub. I won't go into any further details as not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
I know some people like Moffat's work, but I am so ready for a new showrunner. |

People like Moffat? Who? Moffat himself? He certainly seems arrogant enough, calling audiences 'stupid' for not being able to follow his labyrinthine storytelling that he himself can't seem to keep track of.
Tasha Lem was a low point in a sea of low points in Time of The Doctor, that sours more in my mind the more I think on it. Tasha Lem was just a thinly disguised River Song, who has to be one of the worst creations in the entirety of Doctor Who. I'd rather play Monopoly with Daleks than ever have to watch an episode with River Song in it again.

I like Moffat a lot when it comes to Sherlock because his writing style works well for it, it's only with Who I find him hit and miss (although he's had a good few hits of late).
Speaking of which, I should get a thread going for that...

When it comes to Sherlock, Moffat is king. Love love love what he's done with it. But he's been very hit or miss as the Doctor Who showrunner. There are large portions of Series 5 & 6 and nearly all of 7 that I can't stand.

I think season seven was Smith's best run as Moffat got rid of Amy and River Song.

I actually grew to like River more. She was abrasive at first but she really wound up being a character I liked. But being compared to Amy & Rory, as much as I couldn't stand them, didn't hurt River either. But 7 is a collage of missed opportunities and half hearted plots. The first half anyway. I do love Clara as a companion but honestly The Snowmen was the one episode I really liked from Series 7.

The Snowmen wins just for being the first Christmas special since 2005 that wasn't either average or awful

But I will admit, there was still nothing all that great about season seven. Cramming every damn story into a single episode harmed pretty much every good idea, and as much as I liked Clara she was like a less bolshy River Song in the Doctor's girlfriend nonsense.

I just found myself thinking of something else that's barely Who related. I don't like Steven Moffat on Doctor Who much, that's very true. However am I the only person here whose seen a show he created called Coupling? That was a great show until he fumbled the 4th season/series finale and went from a crazy & funny series to one with a ridiculously deep ending.
If you haven't watched it, it's a bit like Friends but a little more explicit. It was a fun show with some truly funny characters. One of the few instances where I really like Moffat as well.
