If I recall, they got someone different to play Jason in Freddy Vs. Jason to have a larger contrast in size between the two.
Freddy Vs. Jason wasn't really a movie I enjoyed outside of the climax because it just felt too...Forced. I liked the concept of Freddy being forcefully forgotten and tricking Jason into being his puppet. It was a pretty nice start for a plot, but the main characters were just too...Ugh. The action is fun and creative, and Freddy is his typical over the top self, but Jason was suddenly a sympathetic puppy who becomes an anti-hero in the second/third act? Not a fan...

Friday the 13th Remake - This was the first true Friday the 13th movie I ever saw and it was pretty good. Now that I have seen the others, I still think this is a good one, certainly better than some of the sequels to the original series, but it is heavily flawed. I do not really like this version of Jason as he seemed to be more Leatherface than Jason, taking hostages and overall, acting more human than anything else. THe guy who also played Jason sucked when it came to movement. On the other hand, there were some pretty cool death scenes, but most of the characters were unlikable, especially Trent, who makes the rich bitch from VII appear lovable. Overall, I'm going to drop this movie down from my original 7/10 from 2009 and move it to a 6/10. It isn't bad by any means, and it is certainly superior to the Halloween and Nightmare remakes, but it still is pretty subpar compared to the best of the series.
ANd thus brings an end to the entire Friday the 13th series. While it is not my favorite horror franchise, as a whole, the series is subpar, they are still quite enjoyable and there are some truly good movies within. |

The Mummy (1959) - The Boris Karloff version of The Mummy is by far my favorite Mummy movie of all time. Growing up though, I enjoyed The Mummy's Hand as I liked the idea of Kharis even if the rest of it was lackluster. Thankfully, Hammer does a great job of doing the Kharis saga better in one single movie that Universal was able to across five movies. Christopher Lee is pretty awesome for having little to no dialog and Peter Cushing really rocks in this movie. It drags a bit in the middle, but it is a very enjoyable one and is also one I would rebuy on BD if WB were to ever release it. I give it a nice 7/10 stars.

Freddy vs. Jason holds a special place in my heart since I saw it in theaters when I was 12 without a Adult. The theater didn't give a shit and let me in. The movie was everything that I wish the first AVP movie was.

Watched the Iron Man and Captain America: Heroes United movie.
...Wow. I was intending on watching both movies in a little double feature this evening. Those plans certainly died. The designs, the animation, the plot, and a good chunk of the voicing was just...Ugh. It was a slog to get through IM&Cap, and I only did that because of Taskmaster. I don't think I'd be able to endure IM&Hulk at all... Also, god please, enough with Hydra. I am soooooooo sick of Hydra.

There will be no Fandom Night tonight or next week, nor will there be a Disney review on this Sunday and the next. Reason for this is I have a musical next week and I need to prepare for it. And strike for the musical is the following Sunday.
*whispers in your ear* Hail Hydra. |
