Trick r Treat - This movie just flat out rocks!! It has a great set of stories and an interesting way of telling them. The characters have little development, but the movie knows what it wants to be and what it wants to do that you really forget all about it. It is unique, original, and is something I would love to see a sequel to (although, it would probably be only half as good). It is also a shame this movie never got a theatrical run as it is better than 95% of the horror movies that have some out in the last five years. Not to mention Sam is an adorable monster. I give it an 8/10 stars.
Theatrical?

At least the PCut is the superior movie. It remembers that Loomis is an integral part of the series and is a more consistent movie. Plus, 6 is not even close to being as bad as Resurrection or Zombie II.

I disagree entirely. Resurrection is at least coherent and while it's bad, at least it's entertainingly bad. No matter what version of six you watch, it's a piece of shit all the way. The plots make jack shit sense in both films, the characters suck (not even Pleasance is that great here), six is just wholly shit in both versions. The theatrical is a bit more entertaining, but that's ruined by the obnoxiousness of the music and everything sounding like it has an echo. P-Cut may be a bit more coherent, but it's plot is just retarded.
So yeah, both versions suck the big one. Hell I hate it so much I'm giving away my three pack of it, H20, and Resurrection just so I can get it out of my possession.

So decades after everyone else, I finally, finally, finally got around to watching Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It was pretty awesome. Not quite as awesome as the hype led be to believe, but still a good watch. I have to say, I'm really impressed with the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a whole. Everything's just so well knitted together.

Halloween - 9/10
Halloween II - 7/10 H20 - 6/10 Halloween III - 7/10 Nightmare Before Xmas - 8/10 Rocky Horror Picture Show 7/10 Also watched this thing called Short Peace today which featured a bunch of anime shorts. To be honest, they all sucked. Possessions was the most creative of them though, but made very little sense. The rest were just blah, especially the last one titled something like The Last Weapon, which was flat out boring as hell. |

Cinderella
No not the fairytale, a Korean Horror movie. This was a bit weird for me, but not necessarily in a bad way. The film is about a mother and her daughter, and various huntings/killings. The mother is a plastic surgeon, and all of her patients, particularly friends of her daughter, keep winding up dead and or mutilated due to the activity of said ghost. The film does an decent job of having an atmosphere, but I can't say it ever had an outright creepy one, but it was a nice attempt. I think the lack of music throughout most of the film helps in this regard, but I never felt particularly in suspense. There are a couple of good moments that come close to achieving that tone, such as two girls carving each others faces up, and especially near the end when it becomes clear just how bat shit insane the mother is. With the revelation she abducted a missing child to replace her burn victim daughter, but when her biological child started to recover, she removed the face of the orphan for her own daughter. Afterwards, she keeps the orphan locked away in a basement, never to be seen or even known about by anyone else. The ghost is of course the orphan, who commits suicide earlier in the film. But the intrigue is quickly swept under the rug by a big WTF ending, sadly. I really could not tell you what happens at the end, it's almost like they remembered they had to give it an ending. The mother goes to remove her daughter's face so she can "return it" to the now dead orphan. And...I think the mom just fucking dies for no apparent reason. She falls over and what's left of the movie is from her POV as a ghost talking to the orphan ghost and I have no idea WTF is going on. Roll credits. Anyway, it's not a bad film, and it's worth a watch. But I don't think it's something I'd watch again. There's nothing here that pisses me off, no really unlikeable characters. But there isn't anything or anyone that sticks out either, most of the characters are just there. We never get to know any of the victims to feel emotional impact. We feel bad for the orphan of course, because she was treated horribly, but that's about the extent of being invested. |

Interstellar - If you want to see a movie that has phenomenal acting, great visuals, but an overstuffed, convoluted plot, with some of the worst sound mixing ever, this movie is for you. There is so much greatness here, that its negatives ultimately sour the experience, causing it to be one of Nolan's weakest films ever. Thankfully it is no where near as bad as Insomnia, but it is almost on the same level as The Dark Knight Rises when it comes to disappointment. There was no need for this movie to be 3 hours long, in fact, it would have been fine right at 2. I just don't understand why these filmmakers these days seem to think they have to make their movies as long as possible when the movie clearly feels bloated just to increase the running time. Visually, the movie is stunning. However, it tends to spend a lot of time shoving the same side shots of the space ship down our throats to the point that those shots no longer look appealing after two hours. Regardless, the biggest atrocity this movie holds is in the sound mixing department. The music is so overbearing and loud that it muddles out a lot of the dialog and sound effects. In fact, this is another issue The Dark Knight Rises suffered from and I do not understand why WB feels the need to do this on a constant basis. Overall, I can not go into any more detail without spoilers, but I will say this, TARS was the best character in the movie and he was a freaking robot. I am not sure what I exactly want to give this movie, so I'm going to just say it is somewhere between a 6-7/10 stars.

Day 16:
Mighty Morp.... I mean.... crap, I f***ed it up again.... Big Hero 6 (2014): *clears throat* This was one of the BEST Disney movies in a long time. Most Disney movies recently have been Princess movies (with the exception of Wreck It Ralph), so this was a well needed movie for the boys. Big Hero 6 is based on the Marvel comic series of the same name. Due to the movie just being released, I will not give out any information about the plot. I do have one thing to say, though: ![]() Baymax was HILARIOUS! I give this movie 9.5 hug-able marshmallows out of 10. |
