So I watched the first episode of Penguindrum, it brought back a LOT of bad memories which are still pretty raw, so as such I couldn't work out if the 2deep4u approach and general melodramatic tone made the show easier to watch or more insulting. That, coupled with the weird incestuous overtones had me about ready to turn off the show. But I gotta admit, I'm a sucker for a mystery, especially when it's centred around super cute penguins. So I'll give it a few more eps.

As for me. I just finished episode 7 of the World God Only Knows... Man I I love Kanon's arc. It's spectacular! My one nitpick with the show is only with the dub, and that's the fact that they didn't re-dub the songs sung by the characters into English so it's a bit distracting when English speaking characters suddenly start singing in Japanese. But that's how far I have to stretch just to nitpick. Still a great dub of a great show, and Kanon's arc is probably the best of the whole series. Why didn't they just end the series with this one? Now I have to sit through... Shiori. ![]() Edit: Oh, there's a filler episode before Shiori's arc. ![]() Last edited by guncannon109; 08-07-2013 at 04:30 AM.. |

I would ordinarily but I spent the majority of the episode wanting to punch it in the face before the cute penguins showed up.

That's a good idea. I normally issue any new show the three episode test and if it fails to impress, I shut it off.

Personally, Shiori's arc was my favorite of the first season. Been holding out on the third season though, I heard they squished around a 100+ chapters of the manga into a recap that was only a few minutes at the beginning of the first episode. Since I haven't watched it yet, if that isn't the case, that'd be great to know.

Giving Bakemonogatari another go since last time I got to about 3 episodes and then just forgot about it.
So glad I downloaded bluray rips, because this show is just one massive artgasm.

Samuel L Jackson voiced Rummy in the Boondocks, too.
