Man, how are they able to keep packing it in to every episode. I feel like I've watched more than 16 so far.
What did Micchy see? I have to think on it, but whatever it is makes him side with his bro. Jinba Gaim is pretty sweet lookin, and I think the lack of a fruit shape is due to the combining of regular lock with the energy locks. I also like that the villains are just as splintered as the Armored Riders are right now. I'm looking forward to seeing Peach in action next week. |

Hm...
I just made a connection I should have made months ago. Sorry if I'm pointing out an old observation, but... "Sid" and "Seed" are pronounced exactly the same in Japanese. That can't be a coincidence, can it? It's gotta go beyond the fact that he's the lock seed dealer, right? And has this show forgotten about the "S" lock seed he carried around for the first handful of episodes? |

They've shown the s seed since then, it just hasn't been focused on much. Unfortunately I think that's just an excuse to sell a special seed, rather it having any kind of special meaning in the show.
Of course, it's Gaim. All bets are off. |

Ok, I'm going to put on my speculation goggles for a minute... No spoilers here, just speculation, but I'm blacking it out anyway for fear of being right. What could Takatora have shown Micchy that instantly changes his firmly held beliefs? My guess is it has to do with Mai, and more specifically Blonde Mai. Since Blonde Mai seems to have an intimate knowledge of the future... I'm guessing that Helheim is actually the future of Zawame City. And I'm guessing that Micchy saw the dead bodies of all of his friends spread out underneath the ruins of the Yggdrasil building. That's the only motivation I can see powerful enough to drive Micchy to his brother's side. His instinct to protect his friends, especially Mai. That might be interesting, huh? It seems likely that Helheim is future Zawame I'm hoping for something different, it just seems too predictable.

What I think is very interesting with this show is not the twists themselves but how it affects the characters confronted with it. We all guessed very early on that the fruits turn humans and animals into Invess and thats exactly what happened. The thing is though that the characters dont completely freak out about it like they would in other shows. Early Heisei shows would have taken this as an oppurtinity to let Kouta hide in his closet with the intention never to fight again. Instead he witnesses a Person he considered a friend get killed and is now triyng even harder to be a hero and protect the people of Zawame not just against the Invess but also against Yggdrasil and the other Beat Riders. If that were the case, I'd expect them to be, y'know, actually selling that special lock seed.

You know, for once I have minor complaint with Gaim. Having Kouta and Mitchy arrive at the garage at the same time even though they left different ways without a quick scene of meeting up. That being said, it's the nittiest of nitpicks
![]() I did like the chase scenes though. I felt Mitchy's was a bit more interesting because he was confined in the tunnel and didn't have his bike (left it at home maybe?). I was surprised that Takatora accepted Sid's weasel logic on his brother getting a Driver, but as we see later on he actually respected his brother making his own power grab. Though I wish Sid had mocked him by saying "That's what you get for not reading the files when I offered them to you." or something like that. The Beat Riders using 'Jailbroken' Lock Seeds to terrorize the town or defend themselves was a story twist I hadn't expected. The Jinba Lemon Arms was neat, and I loved that Kouta went into "Let's be a real life person and figured out how to get this new stuff on the old stuff" moment. And finally, gotta wonder what Takatora showed to Mitchy. |
