With the massive disappointment that Sid turned out to be, I don't see Marika going anywhere either.

So we lost a candidate for the final boss, no big deal ! we have a dozen left !
At least we'll know why she's interested in Kaito, that always intrigued me.

I think it's a big deal. The fandom has made Gaim seem critically bulletproof to themselves - thankfully so far in a somewhat light, well meaning manner - and I think it's time to face up that Gaim does make mistakes. One of those is that the show does have too many Riders and characters like Sid could have been trimmed much earlier and the show may very well have been better for it.

Personally speaking, it's easier for me to overlook those flaws (the insane Rider count at any rate) when I realize that having this many Riders and forms could have easily gone south in the hands of a much less experienced writer. Urobuchi understands the rules of writing, structure, and character development, it's just a shame that even he can't handle the crazy amount of Riders at all times.
Though, to be honest, the only Rider I feel has been truly wasted, and I don't even know why he's still around, is Jonouchi. In the last 20 episodes, he's only shown up a handful of times and transformed once. I think this bothers me the most because I really liked him and Hase at the start of the series and because the Guridon suit is my favorite of all the Gaim Riders. I do hope the character of Yoko becomes more important soon. You can't have an awesome suit actress play her character on screen and then just have her be off in the corner 90% of the time. It's a rare opportunity to do something special and it would be a shame for that to be wasted. |

Nothing is without faults, each KR is its own thing, and it's best to appreciate it for the good and the bad, It might have been a bit too ambitious to have this many characters at once, and now they even trying to flesh out the overlords' motives, and you know what ? they might add 2 more overlords ! it's crazy, but that in part is why i enjoy Gaim, for being so relentless at trying to be as entertaining and unpredictable as possible.
It is what it is, we'll get a much clearer view of the flaws once Gaim ends.

Everybody claims it doesn't follow any Rider tropes. I was listening to a podcast once when they were talking about the reveal about the civilization in Helheim. They were fucking gloating the fact that this happened and "this would happen at the end if this was a normal Rider series". I can guarantee you there's going to be a huge endgame reveal at the end of Gaim. JUST LIKE EVERY OTHER RIDER. |

Locke, you are really going way too indepth for a show designed to sell toys. And Gaim is not bulletproof. I don't think anyone has even said that. However, it is the most story driven show in years and has little to no filler in it (especially when you ignore that god awful crossover).

Perhaps, but when the writer himself goes just as deep, it's expected. We owe his efforts that much scrutiny.

Honestly, while I wish Gaim introduced Riders in chunks of 2 or 3 throughout the entire show instead of blowing thier load the first half, Ryuki was made at a different time. Merchandising mattered, but the toys weren't the forefront of the merchandise.
Now, Bandai makes the toy line a huge thing and is the most crucial part of the show. Which means that they can't introduce that many new toys at the end of the show due to trying to sell movie toys at the same time. In Ryuki, there’s Riders that show up 15 episodes before the end of the show. The way Bandai operates now with the shifted schedule, they won't let something like that happen |

I never got this argument that if something they like is flawed, they immediately clamshell behind 'god it's just entertainment don't be so critical'. Try doing that the next time you get a cold McDonalds, 'so what, it's just fast food, what did you expect?'.
