I hate when I see HGSS get so much praise online and see BW and B2W2 get so much crap talked about them.

Sure HGSS did some cool things, but they also did some terrible things or didn't bother to fix some things that were bad in GSC.

I talk shit on Gen 5 for one very particular reason.
I didn't have fun.

Put plain and simple, they were the first Pokemon games to just bore me as games. The plot was a complete bore and too heavy handed for it's own good, and by giving N fucking 9 hour long monologues it felt twice as long as D/P. The twist was so predictable that I actually forgot that they were trying to set one up until it was revealed.

Gen 5, as games, were fine, I guess. They're main Pokemon titles, it's hard to mess up. But, as main Pokemon titles, they were a chore and just droned on and on. I give the series props for tackling an interesting subject, but by having the main villain just be generically evil (Also, look at him) and then turning them into terrorists in the sequel just bogged down the entire story.

HGSS was a recreation of my favorite gen, but with the better changes Gen 4 brought. It also changed enough to not feel like I was just playing Gen 2 with upgraded graphics, and just a ball of fun. Could this just be rose colored glasses due to GSC being my favorites? It's possible, I'll admit.

Just beat Whitney in Soul Silver, added a third team member to my group in the form of Mumkhar the Scyther, caught in todays bug catching contest.

My current team right now is:

Vector the Croconaw LV 23
Thomas the Pigeyotto LV 20
Mumkhar the Scyther LV 19

Gen 5 may have been a step back in terms of play, but the Unova 'Dex added FAR more interesting Pokemon than Johto did.

Seriously- the Johto 'Dex is full of trash! Qwilfish, Magcargo, Shuckle, Stantler, Sunflora, Ledian, Furret, Quagsire, Corsola... I could go on.

No argument here

Gen 2's biggest failing is that it introduced so many boring and weak Pokemon. It really makes me hope that Sun/Moon introduce some straight Evolutions for Pokemon like Girafarig, Magcargo, Granbull, etc, as well as some Mega Evos for Pokemon like Xatu, Quilfish, etc etc.

And my god, don't even get me started on the ultimate space waster, Unown...

Yes Quagsire has been good ever since it got Unaware and Scald. The thing went up to OU recently on Smogon.

If I remember right, they found a way to boost Shuckle even more. I believe it used Ice Ball, and did over 1 Billion damage.
