Usually they count that time. So however much time he spent behind bars will put him that much closer to home.

This situation is really messed up. Medina tried to defend himself but he ends up pleading for manslaughter and will end up spending a few years in jail.

At one point there was a self-defense defense in court. But it's been used so much that it's pretty much been thrown out. A plea was the smart thing for him to do. Especially since the evidence already pointed to him being guilty because it was his stuff.
