There are not alternate evolutions for the starters (unfortunately IMO). It was a mistranslation all along; they didn't share a secret, they just all "had" secrets. Rockruff's is obvious enough, but even knowing the starters' final evolutions I really don't see where a secret lies with any of them but whatever.

Actually, the current Pokemon meta is about predictions and counters. You build a Pokemon with [X] attack because you anticipate your opponent switching to it's obvious counter or someone to wall it. When running a Choice item, you swap at the same time your opponent does because the power boost is stupid, and Life Orb Pokemon don't care.

You're looking at Pokemon battles as if it's Gen 5's weather meta again. Gen 6 can get boring like that, but with just a little foresight, you can turn the "Attack, swap, attack, swap, attack" style of battling against your opponent as they take massive chunks of damage to their damage dealers, and huge dents into their walls (Since most players will hold onto their sweepers for last).

Well it's his name for the Demo but I doubt that will officially be it. At least outside of the Adventures Manga.
