His decision may have been bad but its something that is part of her character now. And taking that away when you can still turn it into something good seems like a pretty big loss to me. You can make that story work. Arkham Knight did exactly that for example.

He could. But he'd have to be paying attention. But he's also an in-your-face kind of guy, so I don't think he would do that.

I think Gail Simone's run on Batgirl did it best. We all know the scene. We all know the iconic imagery. We only need to see the Joker standing in the doorway dressed as a tourist. The screen cuts to black and there's a gunshot. Scene over.

Yeah you dont have to be explicit about it. The act itself isnt nearly as important as the aftermath.

But I really hope Timm manages to make something great out of this. For the longest time I thought bringing Jason Todd back from the dead was the biggest mistake comics had ever done...and I still do! But because of that we got Under the Red Hood and that movie is absolutely great.

The way these panels are structured indicate that the Joker didn't immediately shoot Barbara once she opened the door. He stood there, holding the gun, which Barbara noticed almost immediately, hence the inclusion of the second panel right before the third. In the amount of time it took for the Joker to shoot Barbara, it is easy enough to presume that Barbara had time to react. A change like that in the film would be reasonable and much more in character for Barbara Gordon than the original comic.

Barbara Gordon is the daughter of the police commissioner in one of the most crime-ridden cities in the world. She probably would use the peephole.
