Guys, it isn't confirmed Jenna is leaving the show just yet. The media is in a flurry that she is, Capaldi is denying it and Jenna is just sitting there amused by the whole thing.

The episode itself was excellent. I really like the new introduction sequence and theme (so glad they didn't use the Rassilon symbols from the fan version, because that's the one aspect I really didn't like from it).

Calling out Clara on all her flaws has humanised her a lot from her rather rocky entrance to the show, and it sent out a very good message to all the shallow fans watching the series as well. It was great seeing the Paternoster Gang again (although the "LOOK WE'RE MARRIED AND LESBIANS" reminder every 30 seconds was RTD levels of shoehorned), and I liked that it had a greater focus on Vastra and Jenny rather than Strax. As much as I like Strax he was really beginning to ruin the Sontarans for me.

The clockword droids were also about a billion times better than they were in The Girl in the Fireplace. They gave off a very Phillip Hinchcliffe vibe which worked well with Capaldi's Doctor.

And Capaldi himself, well he was just fantastic. He has the presence and authority of the old Doctors but still that childish glee and energy of the newer ones. It's the perfect mix for the new series format. I love him already and can't wait for more.

Matt's cameo was great too. Not just because it tied everything together nicely but also because it gave him a proper exit that related to Clara and didn't pin on a fanservicy Amy pond cameo.

Oh god that new theme......

I'm going to be honest, the season premier had crept up on me. I had just gotten home from seeing Let's Be Cops (hilarious movie by the way), so I turned on the TV and BOOM!! Doctor Who premier in 2 hours. And what a premier it was. I enjoyed it once it started to get moving.

But oh god that new theme song.....
I love the new opening, with all the clock gears and the time motif, but the music is just downright awful for a Doctor Who theme....

Maybe that's just because I'm used to something like this:

I felt the theme was very reminiscent of Classic Doctor Who themes, before the New Series. Back when they used strange electronic synthesizers instead of the more orchestral ones nowadays. I like it.

True, but they denied Matt was leaving for the longest time as well. I have lost all faith in the current production team being able to keep anything a secret. Their denials aren't usually very convincing. Granted, them using Capaldi as a mouthpiece this time around is quite smart, considering he hi reputation is completely intact. Still, as much as I'd rather not believe, the history of disconnect between statement and actuality these days leaves me convinced she's gone. I would love to be proven wrong, mind you, but there are precedents for my doubts.

Reminiscent, sure, but the themes back then didn't sound like someone was strangling a cat.

To be fair, I've heard people say the full mix on BBC HD sounded better than the stereo mix on BBC One, though I haven't seen the HD version yet to compare.

nothing can describe this. I think something in my head snapped. too bad its not an actual game, cause I would play it for the absurdity of it.

I enjoyed the episode mainly because Jenny, Vastra, and Strax are my favorite characters and I love every episode they are in, lol. I loved Vastra and Clara's conversation that was fantastic. The 12th Doctor I didn't like till the end, he has this intensity to him that's good but it makes him better at the serious stuff than the funny parts. Eleven had both the silly side and the intensity to him better. Well still these are just first thoughts, I think he should be pretty fun.

So is it just rumored that Jenna is leaving? and not actually confirmed because that might actually just make my day. lol

I read it was true. It better be true, the longer we have to suffer her presents the more I am about ready to just give up on the show.
