The plus side is you don't have to worry about your Pokemon forgetting some egg move while at the day care. And if you want passive exp gain there's always the Poke Pelago.

Also I heard they increased the egg appearance rate by something like a factor of three. And the oval and shiny charms are a lot easier to get. So that is something.

But yeah, it's not really the most ideal set up.

Gen 7 is kinda good is some changes and kinda bad
no dresses, EV training's made a bit harder SOS mechanics
finally a different story, different game structure, SOS mechanics

I feel the same. It has some good as well as some bad. I love the new story and quest concept, but it being that you don't have to actually/always fight the captain is kind of a bummer. Plus just having random Pokemon given to you to use for surfing and flying while nice is a bit odd.

OOH! By the way, Mareanie can get a 20% chance of being summoned, this happens when you fish in rippling water. Can you get rippling water with repels? Would be very easy to get a Mareanie with it's hidden ability like that

2 Water types, but eh, I think it's fine. Oricorio has also been reverted to Pom-Pom because the Psychic typing was causing more grief than benefits. Only a few more levels 'til Revelation dance, too. FINALLY.

So yeah. I'm finally back to playing the fucking game. I'm so happy~

I don't think repels really affect fishing at all. Fishing as a whole is very different from how it's been in the past, and rippling water is common enough. You may need to soft reset to get what you want out of the ripples, but that's not too horrible.

Though even if you're surfing you don't really need repel. The encounter rate when surfing is frankly absurdly low.


On another subject, yeah. While I'm enjoying Sun a fair bit, mechanically it's like three steps backward, two strides forward and four weird shuffles to the left. There's a lot of cool stuff in the game but just as many questionable or even baffling choices.

Like having 20 out of the 81 new Pokemon be legendary/mythical/whatever. Like, that would be a lot in any Generation, but for one this small it's truly bizarre.

But I like them, so I guess I don't really care. But it certainly is weird.

Well, at least it won't be like XY and we'll basically stop talking about it when the other games of this gen come out. Whatever you think of them, they have personality.

Thought, if there's another remake/sequel in this gen, as some elements of this game suggest, especially the regular references to Kanto, is there a chance of new region exclusives? Especially if it's a sequel, either to this game or just to Red and Blue, with Gen 3 and on Pokémon having new forms when moved to Kanto. Johto is right next to Kanto so chances of Gen 2 Pokémon getting new Kantoan forms is slim to none, but Hoenn and Sinnoh are... MAYBE far enough.

That would be neat, or they could add some new megas to this gen, maybe some new Z-moves.
