Just watched Kaku 10.
First, dolls are creepy. Second, the Kakure Ball was dumb. Third, seriously, dolls are freaking creepy. Anyway, I found it hilarious when Sasuke had to dress like a baby. Also, hospitals in Japan: "We don't know what could possibly be wrong with him. So the only explanation is that their soul was stolen." |

Just caught another few Gaoranger Quests. This show continues to intrigue me. The episode with Gao Giraffe was actually pretty brilliant. Since Ship Org appeared at sea and the primary focus was on Blue helping a boy retrieve a letter in a bottle I was a bit confused. But then the construction crane, which the boy had been previously operating, began acting on it's own and turned out to be Gao Giraffe. That was completely unexpected but in a good way. And it's such an epic power up. I mean it just punching a giant hole through the middle of the bad guy

Yay, I now hae all of my Sentai files back. Now it is the Kamen Rider files. However, it is going to be a pain in the ass redownloading all of Black since I have to do each episode at a time.
BTW, I was checking them out and holy ****. Nihon's encoding for Deka-Go-On is down right atrocious. The video is so blurry and pixelated. |

Yeah, that's part of the reason why I've dropped Boukenger. It's a good show, but not good enough to put up with terrible video, audio synch issues, and some of the worst fansubbing I've ever seen from TVN.

I cut them slack because there weren't better Raws to go off of at the time. I'd like to see them tackle it with new higher quality rips but oh well. Their worst stuff is still Dekaranger, in both video quality and sub. I love that show but they didn't really ever get those subs straight and the video differed greatly week to week.

Well, I just finished up Gokaiger. And I have to say that I enjoyed it a whole hell of a lot. I do remember IIRC Matrixbeast saying that he didn't like it due to the lack of character development, especially for Joe and Luka.
Well, I agree that it was only mentioned sparely, but I wouldn't say that they had no character development. My personal con with the show was that I think it didn't quite do as much as it could with it's villains and story in general. I found the villains to be good, but I never really felt like they were that big of threat. It wasn't really till the end when they started to gain lead over the Gokaigers, when with all of the power each one had, you would think they would've been able to beat them down even more and earlier on. Hell, Basco was their greatest threat just due to him being able to summon previous rangers. As for the story, I would've enjoyed seeing them travel around more. I know that it was only really shot in Japan, and that it would be expensive to have them travel to different countries and pay off to film there, but it would've been a nice touch. Also, another small con I had was the lack of seeing some of the ultimate powers. I really didn't like the way the Geki one got barely used, and how it worked with Gokai-Oh. Plus, I wanted to see the Gokai-Oh Megaranger power. All in all, it was a great series. It had very little cons to me, which was obviously due to all of the pros it had. I was able to blow through it within sick days, and I could easily pop the discs in and do it anytime, as it's pretty easy to get hooked into it. I'd give Gokaiger a 5/5.

SO I just watched 199 Heroes. I absolutely love this movie. That is all I am going to say.
XW1n, to be honest, I don't think there is a single Sentai show where every single ranger gets top notch development. It's usually only half of the team that gets the major development while the rest get bits, if that. No matter how you slice it, it really is The Red Ranger and His Servants every time whether red is the leader or not. I do agree that the Zangyack Empire seemed pretty lackluster as far as villains go. I loved their designs, but they could have easily made Warz Gil a Sincline/Lotor type character. His father, the emperor, was absolutely useless. He did nothing at all. Honestly, outside of Basco and Barizorg, the villains were nobodies. This show was definitely about the fanservice with the rangers, and I'm okay with that. They made it work. |
