I liked that episode quite a bit. It wasn't groundbreaking Who or anything like that but it was a solid episode nevertheless, and kept me guessing even when I thought I had all the answers worked out.
Both this and Into the Dalek have made me realise how much better Moffat works when he has a co-writer.

I liked this one a lot. The story had a good hook (although I saw the Architect's identity coming miles ahead), the guest characters were really likable, and Capaldi almost felt like the main character at times.

I mostly enjoyed this week's episode and it's the closest thing I've seen in a long time to something that could have been slotted easily into the classic series. The major issues I had were the guest cast. I'm not sure if the blame rests with the actors themselves or the director, but most everyone seemed to be overacting something fierce this week.

Sorry about the mistake, Zeo. When I responded I thought you were talking about Family of Blood. I goofed.
I loved this episode. I could guess what was happening and was still surprised when it happened. |

Well, I've watched too much Who. I compalined about the shredders being killers when "teleports would have been a better idea". Twenty minutes later...`
Anyway, I liked the episode. The monster was brilliant (hooray for not-CGI!), the architect twist was obvious enough to detract from the other twist (you know the one), and Capaldi finally gets to play a full hero role. Kind of. He's still robbing a bank. Anyway, next week: The Doctor works at a school. Again. But he's not a teacher, he's a caretaker. And there's no Sarah-Jane... And now I'm sad. Especially after the article in DWM about her show. |

Everything up until the first confrontation with the monster was nearly perfect. The banter was brilliant and Peter/Jenna are awesome together and, in nearly every aspect, Capaldi was as brilliant as ever. There was a solid attempt to have some real personal drama in the episode. I think, for the most part, it was better written than most of the interpersonal drama we see on the show but I'm just not feeling it for some reason.
The primary thing the episode did was make me dislike Danny Pink even more. The romance angle seems awkward and forced and it's saddening that, most likely, he'll be the cause of Clara's departure. The creature was meh, but as it wasn't the focus of the episode it was easy to ignore. I was amused somewhat by the Matt look-a-like confusion, though. The 'big mystery' continuing scene at the end felt a bit out-of-place, but that's to be expected. I have to say, though, that in the 'Next Time' trailer, Jenna looked good in the spacesuit. ![]() Still, all in all, I'd say this was the most completely satisfying episode thus far. Or, really, more accurately, the one I felt the need to nitpick the least, despite having too much Pink. |

I'm glad the lookalike thing was addressed, because I saw it right away and wondered if it was just a coincidence
