You, who has argued over the aesthetic point of some boxes before, can't see why someone would prefer the plastic window?

I think this is an effort on Bandai's part to save money, as we've seen Bandai making the blister to a lid format, no longer is the instruction polybagged, since the window is gone, not only did they save on the plastic, they also save on not having to die-cut the boxes to make room for the plastic window. These steps may seem trivial for us, but for Bandai it could mean saving a ton of money.

Whether I like plastic or not I was simply stating a fact. They don't need the plastic windows anymore if they aren't sold in stores. That's not my personal opinion that's just why Bandai is doing this. You don't need to sell someone on what a figure looks like if they literally won't have it in hand until after they've purchased it. I can see why someone would prefer it, but in this instance there's clearly a reason why bandai has opted not to do it.

Honestly, unless you were planning to display the figure MIB, the packaging should not matter at all.

Unless you collect these as Sentai figures like I do. I have no desire to own Power Rangers specific boxes

Personally, I like the windowless boxes. I don't appreciate the dearth of accessories as much, but as long as it's only non-essentials I can live with it. Hopefully we don't get anything worse than Kibaranger's two hands.

Honestly, I think the windows can go even on the retail releases. The art on the windowless boxes look much cooler and images of the figures are still plastered all over them. You still know what you're getting.
And it would save on so much plastic for Bandai. The real problem here is the smaller accessory count. Other than it being web exclusive norm to be minimalistic with those, there really isn't a reason considering they do already exist thanks to Tyranno Ranger.

Window-less boxes mean you cannot see what figure you are getting - a piece could be missing, one figure could have worse paint than another. Granted, this only matters at retail when you have a choice. If you get one Tamashii Web Exclusive in the mail, that's what you get either way.
However, I would bet that some stores in Japan order a ton of exclusives to sell in-store, perhaps at secondary market prices, and I bet those customers would like to see what they're actually buying. And for international customers getting the web exclusives, they have to open them to inspect them and thus devalue the item just to find out if it's all ok. Figuarts must know that they have some MIB collectors who prefer to display the figures in their boxes. It just seems like an awful idea to scrap the windows, and I wonder if the Japanese fan base feels the same way. |

what do you mean what's up with it? also.. i don't really care about the boxes. i've been picked up red and white at my local comic shop.. so, i'd prefer a window box just so i could check the paint apps before i purchase it. but other than that, i couldn't care less about the box. and, keeping these things in their packaging should be criminal! lol. with all of their articulation, and accessories, these need to be taken out and posed! the one thing i wish these had were display stands. they should all come with stands like those exclusive ones. |
