No they arent. Transformers is not as big in japan like it is in america or europe. the japanese market is not what hasbro aimed at back then and they dont aim at it today.

Hasbro bought the diaclone license and sold them in america as Transformers. hasbro produced the cartoon with the money they earned in America. they were already two seasons of the show when it was imported to japan. The show would have continued in america beacuse it was succesfull in america.

The only thing that would be different is that there might be no Victory or Masterforce TV Show.

Takara is just like any other company. Hasbro pays them to help design the toys thats it.
