No, none of those pieces are the actual costume. The costume doesn't need to be in multiple highly-detailed pieces like all the ones in the video. Those are for the various miniature shots - erupting from their respective resting places, "Megazord sequence has been initiated!" and the rare shots of them shooting their weapons individually. The bigger Triceratops, for example, would be for the close-up shots of parts folding around for the Tank Mode.
The actual suit pieces are much less detailed, don't transform or adjust much if at all, and would be even larger than those. It also probably got trashed the moment Zyu2 city-scale footage was completed, rather than being afforded any kind of luxury of sitting in a warehouse at least. Makes me wonder, with the footage being as old as it appears, how long it was before these props were dumped too. Virtually nothing gets preserved. Of the major studios, Tsuburaya probably had the best track record of preserving as much as they could out of more recent costumes, but generally the rule of thumb is that if it can't be recycled into a new design, it doesn't get to survive more than a year or two. It depends on the complexity of the costume and the likelihood of being reused, of course. All the modern versions of classic Rider costumes are used sparingly enough to get saved, but in Decade for example, the entire reason for Exceed Gills being the main appearance in the Agito episodes was because the original Gills was already trash. The costumes are also typically only made to last a year or so of filming and would be insanely difficult to preserve with the materials used. There's also a real problem of not having the space to keep the things around even if they might be wanted in the future. That's how you get things like your example or people dumpster-diving Toho's monster storage in the 60s and 70s and ending up with a collector owning the head and neck of Titanosaurus, the only bits that weren't rotten away to nothing and even then in terrible shape.

Whoa. This is awesome to see. Really sad nothing gets saved, so these old archive footage videos are something to behold.

being a prop car it was most likely a salvaged vehicle to begin with so it will probably be scrapped after they film all the movies they are contracted to do and maybe a year after that. but chances are they legally can not sell it looking at some of the other videos on his channel this was probably in in 93 same as the big long 2hr video he has with a lot of behind the scenes of diaranger. they where probably digging out the zyuranger mechs to film the transformation sequence they did for MMPR season 2 when the old zords turned into the thunder zords that same 2hr video also has some footage of the storage area lots of bikes and other prop vehicles just rotting a way. fo to 11 minutes 20 seconds for the prop vehicles Last edited by GPTF01; 12-23-2014 at 05:11 AM.. |
