on a sentai note, i wasnt a big fan of roboknight so i had to buy his gear so i can enjoy him, if i didnt buy it, i would have skipped goseiger. crazy yes but that was my mind set at that time.

I have to agree with this completely.
Not having any of the merchandise, in no way effects whether or not I enjoy a series, but watching the shows does increase my desire to own merchandise from said show.

I think that's the same for a good chunk of us. Like wanting a Rider's belt while watching a KR series, or wanting a mecha while watching Sentai/PR.
I don't think very many people will find their enjoyment of a particular series dropping because they don't have a toy...

That's pretty much it. Just a few episodes into a good series and I'm already googling toys, my fingers itchy to order.

I personally while watching a show would want toys, but when its over I don't want the toys as much. Except for Kabuto zecters, and Ryuki.

I've only owned four, maybe less, Megazords in my life. A couple figures. And no, having them didn't increase how much I enjoyed a season. And not having them didn't decrease how much I enjoyed one.

I went through a phase where I had to get the main Megazord from every new series, but stopped for a long time... But recently I got the urge again and was able to track down all the main Megazords from all the series from MMPR to now...
