I don't think any series deserves a sequel series, especially the failed sequel series that was Sun Vulcan.

I don't really think Sun Vulcan on it's own is that bad. At worst, it's simply bland.

As a sequel to Denziman, it fails largely because there are no meaningful connections to Denziman apart from Machiko Soga reprising Queen Hedrian.

It certainly has an important place in Sentai history though, being the first combining robo, the first three-man team, the ONLY all-male team, and the ONLY sequel series. Even if the series isn't great, it sure does have an impressive resume.

It may have done a lot first, but you also have to take into account many other factors: There have been no other sequel series and there have been no other all male teams. I think that might be telling of something...
Meanwhile, combining mecha was an inevitability.

It did a lot all it's own, so did MMPR, and I honestly wouldn't take away it's merits (Because it has so few to begin with)

Well, I think Sun Vulcan was the only brand new tokusatsu that aired in 1981. The rest were carry-overs from the previous year. That may have had something to do with Sun Vulcan's good ratings, but chances are also likely that the kids just really liked it.

Also, don't be so dismissive. Some pretty great stuff aired in the 80s, ya know.
