I've never liked the Akaranger suit, and it all comes down to the helmet, which just doesn't manage to go anywhere near cool. And that... is a suit extremely devoted to faithfully homaging Akaranger's helmet.

I really kind of adore this design. It's a fantastic fusion of all the elements that endear many 70's toku to me. This design looks like it could have walked out of some old Ishinomori sketchbook or something. I really really like it. Now will the show be good? Who knows. I haven't really been wowed a sentai since Go-Busters. But this design is so promising.

That does make a lot of sense. Just looking at him, he doesn't look like he could be a part of the core team, even considering how Reds will often get much cooler stuff than the others. Not to mention the name, ZenKaiser, which just screams "Extra Hero/Ranger."

Everything thing about all these homages being put together into a single suit shouldn't work, and on paper they don't. But damn if there isn't something about the execution here that makes me love it. Think the V-fin helps massively on the helmet.
