To be fair, I never expected meh. I usually have medium to high expectations for an anime and with Clannad I had high expectations. but with the "what i got" that's how you will feel.

So I went ahead and watched the fourth Strike The Blood episode anyway. The animation hasn't gotten any better but so many crazy ideas were thrown around this episode that it was still really enjoyable and it looks like it's only going to get more interesting as we go. Plus the action is still a lot of fun, especially now Kojou has found his inner horny badass.

Ippo 16. Man I really love this show, and these characters, it's just so much fun. This is just such a fantastic anime in general, I was worried while rewatching this that it would have either aged horribly or that my tastes would have moved beyond this, instead I'm just reminded why I loved this show so much when I first got into anime. Although it was cool to see Miyata fight again, he is actually pretty boring to watch, as he's so skilled he just chumps every opponent. Then again, Ippo's next opponent is deliberately boring, with a surprisingly clever fighting style for an underdog. Hayami looked so much like Oda, I got really excited for his return, shame it was just some show off asshole - although Hayami's Shotgun was pretty fucking awesome, even if it was ridiculous.

Ippo 17. Ippo goes to the beach! And also begins work on his footwork, he may be a decent dasher, but only in straight lines and that just isn't good enough in the pro ring. It was amazing to see how far he'd come by the end of this episode, I just love the pace of this show. I also like that Aoki and Kimura may not be as big a joke as they've been set up to be, I hope we actually get to see them box at some point.

Ippo 18. Ippo's new opponent is just so boring, and although the show tried to do its usual 'feel more for the opponent than Ippo himself' game, his character was so weak it only turned me off him and made me root for Ippo even more. Ippo has grown a LOT in these 18 episodes and has become a genuine, skilled and exciting fighter, I love watching him box and if this was real, he'd be the kind of fighter I'd support. The match itself on the other hand was...surprisingly intense. Although Clinching is annoying, there was always a sense that you were never quite sure what Kobashi would try so it gave the illusion that Ippo might lose.

Fuko's arc ends at episode 9 with her older sister's wedding. Episode 10 is the start of Kotomi's arc.

To be fair, while I did enjoy Clannad, I found a lot of it to be either "meh" or just kind of weird. I don't hate Clannad, but I don't exactly love it either... Now After Story on the other hand, that is what makes Clannad so much more.
