The good thing about the lackluster combinations in Go-Busters is that they were used pretty sparingly, meaning the individual mecha got to shine for much longer.
On hindsight though, the cluttered designs for Go-BusterOh/King don't bother me so much anymore. I enjoy them because they aren't supposed to be super fighting robots in the way other Super Sentai mecha are - they're last resort power house robots that don't need to do much much movement. Which I thought worked really well with the story given how they showed how easily it can run out of power as well.

I think if anything the clunky stacking of the mecha feels more out of place here than in other series, sure it looks rubbish wherever it is but in a more fantasy orientated series the whole piling on aspect kinda fits with the ridiculous nature of it all. Here however, you would think, being that the Go-Busters are an actual organisation, they'd build mecha for functionality and purpose and avoid the fantastic and ridiculous. So it seems an odd design to just take one mech and stick loads of other mechs on it. Especially as Ace is designed to fight Megazords on his own anyway.

Only specific ones though. All the villain Megazords have designated types (Alpha, Gamma etc) and the ones Go-BusterOh fights are too strong for them, which is why the combining comes into play. Seems easier than building an entirely new robot to do the job when you can just combine the power of the 3 you already have.

Yeah it was introduced about four or five episodes ago now. You can see how badly they are trying to sell stuff even this early on.

Watched Episode 23-24 of DaiRanger and 24 of Battle Fever J. Episode 23 was great for ShiShiRanger. I really loved the explanation of the Miss America switch in the story.

So I'm around ten episodes into Go-Busters so far and really enjoying it, I haven't actually hit any filler yet despite what I was lead to believe about the series.
What I will say though is Ryuu is a great character...perhaps a little too great. He has had by far the most focus and the most memorable moments and everything we learn about him is really interesting. With each episode Red and Yellow just sort of feel like they're kinda...there, I wish Ryuu was Red, it'd make more sense.

I just saw the GoBusters Gokaiger team up, i feel like parts of this were made just to be adapted into Power rangers.

Hell, the commander and his two lackeys have no business being in the show because they do absolutely nothing. Of course, the Buddyroids are teh worst thing about the show as they are so annoying. |
