Working my way through a bunch of comics I couldnt pick up in the last weeks. Gotta say Howard the Human was a lot better than I ever expected.

Finished Age of Ultron vs. Marvel Zombies. Boy was that a letdown. The premise sounded fantastic and I liked the first issue but it really went downhill from there. The book was incredibly rushed and full with needless exposition. Instead of packing the books full with the characters backstory they could have used that time to actually show them trying to survive in the Zombie Robot apocalypse. Or have more conflicts between the Ultrons and the Zombies. Overall not something I would recommend.
And I read the last issue of Waids Daredevil. Great stuff as always. Sad that his run on the book is now over. |

I picked up Contest of Champions #1, Doctor Strange #1, and Invincible Iron Man #1 today as part of the All-New All-Different Marvel reboot.
Contest of Champions was alright. It felt rushed and it literally drops straight into the plot without even a little bit of an explanation as to what's happening. I don't know, that could be how they wanted the story to be structured. I'll probably continue reading it but the first issue hasn't left a good impression on me. Doctor Strange is good. I do like that they give a brief recap on how he came to be on the first page, so that was a good idea. Good start to the plot and interesting to see Strange's lifestyle and adventures. Invincible Iron Man is good, and my favourite of this week's releases. Thank god they've changed Tony back! It's good to see normal Tony once again not 'Dark Tony'. Thor's cameo was pretty funny. Also, fair warning, the ending seems to contain a potential spoiler for Secret Wars (I say potential as we still don't know how Secret Wars ends and how the All-New All-Different Marvel Universe is created). Good start to the story and hope to read more. |
