Put it this way, does the lower jaw not being changed have any significance to it overall appearance of the Tapejera?

Overall, not really such a big difference. The lower jaw is shaped a by differently, and it has a few more details - but most of the detail (at the jaw hinge) gets covered by the silver "ear" pieces anyway. Plus, the lower jaw of ptera is a softer plastic to allow fitting over the two pegs that it hinges on. My plastic is rigid and might snap when I try to stretch it to it.
For now, I'm skipping making a new jaw. It looks pretty good as is. |

Trying something new - and bigger. It's a material called Hydrospan, which will expand to 1.6 times the original, when left in tap water for a few days.
Here is the original cast after molding the Futabasaurus Minizord head (I also cut off the wheel from my cast): ![]() Here is the model almost full size after soaking in tap water for around 24 hours. I believe it got a little bigger before I molded it: ![]() Here is my first cast. I rotocasted to to make the piece hollow. My plan is to cut it apart and fill the upper and lower jaws with the connective guts from the Plesiozord head - both pieces are removable from the figure - akin to what I'm doing with Tapejara/Pterazord: ![]() I'd also love to add the neck ribbing. But I'd have to be glue-on pieces rather this molding the whole darn neck apparatus. I've got enough work cut out for myself as it is... I've been a bit ADD when it comes to finishing these zords. My best guess is that Fukuiraptor will be done next, followed by Tapejara, Iguanodon, and then Futabasaurus. I don't yet have an extra plesiozord to work with... |

Thanks! Happy to chat.
I also have casts of the Kentrosaurus head and spikes, plus the Styracosaurus head soaking right now. The Styracosaurus frill (which is a separate piece) is giving me trouble molding it properly. I've already made a custom drill bit for the tail that has a heart on it ![]() Lastly, I also have step up version 1 of the Allosaurus. I need to mold it and enlarge it again - then I'll mod the T-Rex face halves to fit. Depending on how that goes, I'm going try the Victory Minizord as well Last edited by Nrin Vakil; 01-26-2016 at 12:34 AM.. Reason: More jnfo |
