On the topic of generation 3 remakes. I think it's kind of necessary because not a lot of people have those games and a lot of people don't have the old DS to pass those Pokemon all the way to gen 5.
That and with all those nods to Hoenn in XY game freak would be stupid not to make them at this point.

That and with all those nods to Hoenn in XY game freak would be stupid not to make them at this point. A lot of people still have their Gen 3 games. Also, a nod to Hoenn =/= a remake. Using that mentality, we should get a D/P remake since they had statues of their legendaries present, you can find their respective orbs in the cave where Zygarde is found, the multiple references to Sinnoh lore, and Lucario (A Pokemon introduced in D/P) plays a large role in introducing Mega Evolution. Much like how Jasmine showing up in Sinnoh wasn't a precursor the Gen 2 remakes, and just a mild shout out, a Gen 3 remake would have absolutely nothing to do with the references to Hoenn made in X and Y. It would just be a coincidence, and nothing more.

All I'm going to say is remake or not I'll just let GameFreak do what they want. The remakes aren't needed but most people think it's nice to have. But it's GameFreak's decision and we can't force them to make it.

...What?
I don't want to be rude, but I honestly have no idea what you said. Don't even try. I meet more people telling me that R/S were their first games and hear all about how they still have their copies of that game. That and with all those nods to Hoenn in XY game freak would be stupid not to make them at this point. I'll be honest, and I may be committing blasphemy by saying this, but I didn't really enjoy FireRed/LeafGreen. Sure, they were updated versions of Red/Blue/Yellow, and sure they were much better than those games. But with Emerald out about the same time, Kanto just felt immensely boring being restricted to those 150 Pokemon. Now HeartGold and SoulSilver were fun to play, but that's because the Gen II games were actually really large and innovative, with more than enough Pokemon to keep you occupied. Thus they effectively competed with Diamond/Pearl/Platinum. However, even then, I felt bored towards the Kanto half because it felt dated despite the advances in graphics and gameplay. And restricting players to just Hoenn Pokemon until after the Elite Four will be a slap considering how large the Kalos Pokedex is. In my opinion, Hoenn just wasn't as interesting as Johto/Kanto combined were. The villainous plots, while cool at that time, have become extremely outdated, especially if you placed them next to those of Team Galactic, Team Plasma and Team Flare. They could surprise me, but right now I can't really see it. I think Hoenn remakes will be great, but they'll feel like a step back from X and Y.

The thing is, I don't know how much fun Gen III remakes would be.
