Even Master Shafu was a giant cat. The logo of the company was claw slashes and the suits were "cat suits" (not called that in the show, but that is a common moniker for a full-body jumpsuit like they used). The cat theme was very present in that show even if it wasn't all out presented as a cat themed sentai

Actually it was entirely Saban's decision. They discontinued production in favor of giving Lost Galaxy a bigger budget. I think Mystic Knights was actually outperforming and outselling Power Rangers at one point.
