Dairanger 42.
So this whole time Akomaru hid Kou's Mum in a temple right behind a public park? I don't know what is more stupid, hiding her there in the first place or the fact that no one has found her yet. Especially as it's implied Lin has cycled past it, quite a few times. I will say I liked that so much shit was going down, but none of that shit looked very good, as the majority of that shit was mech stuff. A public park became a baron forest, with mountains, as did the abandoned leisure centre and Ryou thought it was fine to go all out in the Dragon Star Lord, right in the middle of this baron public park with mountains which surely would have countless innocent people in it, not to mention his whole team and Kou's Mum. The Dragon God though transcends the awful scaled sets in just how much carnage and awesome he causes simply by existing. Just a shame he was barely in the episode.

So I decided to watch the first episode of Liveman, since I'm getting close to finishing Dairanger.
Man the quality of these rips are bad, but at least it's GUIS and not TVN. I'm not surprised they had to set this on Tracy Island. Where else would they set something this multicultural, in xenophobic Japan? Hahaha. Still, the fact that the core heroes and villains are all Japanese ruined this a bit. All in all, it feels like a prototype Jetman and holds up pretty well. The best action scene in the whole episode is when Megumi rides away from the attacking spaceships on a pushbike, somehow peddling faster than their lasers. Well either that, or any of the villains powers like Beautiful Beast or Elbow Gun. In seriousness the mecha was pretty cool, reminded me of Zoids. Holy crap it's Jin and is that...Gara?! Jin and Gara look fucking stupid in this show, yes, even Gara looks worse than that weird BDSM costume she wears in Dairanger. Luckily Bias has a slightly better design, minus wearing women's boots. Not only that, but I swear they reused some of the footage from this for when the Dragon God goes on his rampage in Dairanger.

How are the Liveman rips bad? I'm pretty sure they are from the DVDs.
And yes, that is Jin and Gara and they are awesome in this show! Also, the main leader is the guy who voices Arucard in Hellsing, Monte Cristo in Gankutsuou, and many many many other anime voices. |

They just don't seem to have been very well encoded, they look kinda washed out (and I don't just mean in how they are filmed) and there is a lot of tearing and pixelation in places, maybe there are some DVD ver2's that aren't on KRDL.

Dairanger 43.
I love how they got all the set up out of the way last episode, so this episode could just go straight into the action. Being punctuated by Kou's Mum's overacting was fucking annoying though. But who cares, it's almost Christmas! It must have been pretty weird for Kou's Mum to find he lives alone with a young woman who spends the majority of her time in really small shorts. Then again, the dirty hoe, she must have shagged Shadam quite a number of times and for quite some time to produce two children. Why is everyone asking what the Dragon God is? Did they somehow forget when that thing was destroying the world?

I didn't think I'd live to see the day, when Dr Kain hated something from Dairanger.

I guess even he can't convince himself that an old bat screaming Kou in a pitch that can break glass is somehow a good thing.

Liveman 02.
This show is so Japanese. Our friends have been murdered, let's build some giant animal robots to take our revenge! We built them, but we had no idea they combined! How'd we install that feature without knowing? I don't know. Although obviously it's a lot older, so it's a lot more dated, I do appreciate how ambitious Liveman is. It feels in many senses, much more ambitious than Dairanger and actually shows it up quite often, despite the shows age. Live Robo looks pretty decent as well, it isn't quite as boxy as say...Jet Icarus, but then it isn't like the modern mecha either which are bloated out to breaking point, and made of cheap material that flaps around and looks totally shit. A fembot called Colon? Come on, man.
