So I'm thinking of trying 555 tonight, and maybe Super-1 but I've reach the point where I want to continue now because I loved a lot of the first episodes I've watched.

I can. After selling the Zector to Tendou, Tsurugi becomes a complete waste of space. By the end of the show, the only Riders not to be useless or superfluous are Kabuto and Gattack. The rest are just a huge waste of some of the best Rider designs ever.

Sasword was a pretty great character when it came to not making the show incredibly boring, so that's something.

The problem is that, in order to be a "Useless" character, he has to have had no significant actions or purpose.
Overstaying his welcome isn't the same as being a waste of space.
