So I just finished the long-awaited (for me anyway) Evangelion 3.33. Evangelion has returned to it's extremely confusing ways, but this time its a whole different animal.
Being set a whole 14 years after Eva 2.22, a lot of things have changed. Unfortunately the film doesn't exactly make a point of explaining them, keeping the audience just as in the dark as Shinji is. A whole 50 odd minutes have passed before there's any real discussion of the near-Third Impact. Despite quite an action packed opening and finale, this film is much more about character building - particularly Shinji's relationship with Kaworu and him finding out the truth about Rei(s). I REALLY felt for Shinji in this film. He tried to be a hero at the end of 2.22, and the world has turned out hating him for it. Everyone he knew and loved either wants him dead or to use him, and the only person to ever show him compassion turns out to be an angel. Even when he was inadvertently starting the Fourth Impact I was rooting for him, simply because I'd seen enough of the world taking a dump on him. Confusion aside, it was a fantastic film though. Not Eva 2.22 fantastic, but further proof that the Rebuild series is vastly superior to the original Evangelion series. Also the next film looks incredible. SYMMETRICAL DOCKING EVA UNIT!!! Shame it's just so far away ![]() |

Yeah...even if they put a show from a franchise I love on there, I wouldn't watch CN. After Clone Wars ends...there will be nothing that channel can offer me anymore. They could go bankrupt and I wouldn't care. Same here.

Shingeki no Kyojin....Its dark. Graphic. Had a lot of potential. Then I read the manga and lost interest. I dunno. In the beginning of the series it had this vibe of humanity overcoming its fears to take on insurmountable odds to fight the Titans. The tone is sort of similar to a zombie movie where the Titans are essentially zombies. I liked the human aspect of the show and the Titans are creepy as fuck...but....well. It becomes a "become the thing I hate to destroy the thing I hate" type of show in the literal sense of the phrase.
Dropping it despite how much I love Sasha Blouse. |
