Yeah. I wonder if that has to do with Square Enix's line or not. I'm not very knowledgeable about Japanese licensing. Though to be honest, I was very disappointed in how Terry Bogard turned out. Not because of his articulation, but because the face sculpts were just so off. They also seemed very flat and not very three dimensional and life like. I don't find much to dislike about Bandai Japan, but that stuck with as Terry is my favorite SNK character. ..that said, I would love to see Bandai continue with the KOF line and tackle Street Fighter as well.

Eh. I'm a Street Fighter fan, but in all honesty, I probably wouldn't pick up any D-Arts of them. Outside of the Mega Man X line, the anime aesthetic for characters just hasn't been doing well, looking very mediocre and just...Bad.
I think Vega (Balrog) would be fine because you could cover his details with a mask, and Q would be cool if Capcom remembered he existed, but as a whole, I just don't think the anime aesthetic looks very good under Figuarts or D-Arts (Also why I'm against seeing the Digidestined that everyone is clamoring for).

Well, to be fair, I think Freeza looked fine, and Cell wasn't bad, but none of the Saiyans did it for me.

Well, the Anime figuarts have come a very long way. The Leulouch I got is very spot on.

With the exception of his screaming face being full derp, I'll agree to that.

The anime faces are hit and miss. The "human" Z warriors are pretty good, but not perfect. Trunks is the best so far imo, Goku is alright, Vegeta is average, and Gohan has an okay serious face but the one happy face is full derp, lol. Frieza & Cell are awesome, and Piccolo is pretty nice too. The Megaman figures are pretty good. Zero is great, X is good/average, and Megaman is average (smiling face is meh, but the action faces are good). I think Bandai does the monsters, machines, and masked characters excellently. They are getting better with the anime figures. The Figuarts Sailor Moon figures look great so far, hopefully they'll maintain that in production, but they already look better than the DBZ characters on average.

Hmmm.
Blastoise. I wish his right cannon could point as far forward as the left. Really awkward, that one is. Also wish they had been cast in gray instead of black painted gray, but that's not too bad yet. We'll see after I've plugged in the hydro pump effects a few times though... And maybe knees. Although I'm not sure how helpful they'd be. I just find the thigh swiveling to get him in lower stances somewhat awkward. But the guy looks absolutely amazing.

Blastoise does look fantastic. I haven't taken mine out except to inspect him, but overall I'm very happy with him.
My D-Arts MetalGarurumon just dropped into my POL at BBTS, ship it now! lol. I'm happy I was able to snag one last minute, ebay prices are even worse than I expected. Now I'm just waiting for Bass & Treble to come in stock. It's a pretty good year for D-Arts. |
