I think this is big enough for a wallpaper

I watched and loved all of Season 1, but I thought this first episode of Season 2 was awful. It was boring and kind of confusing.
They started out re-telling the story, literally, which I don't think was necessary or the most interesting way to catch people up on Season 1. Then they started to change the history we know randomly and with no explanation. This wasn't interesting - just confusing. I kept trying to figure out what really happened and how the Season 2 retelling was different and where and how different events would fit in or replace the original events. To add to the confusion, Dairanger has been replaced with Akibaranger? Is this a delusion? Parallel universe? I thought Akibaranger was set in the real world, but in the real world, Dairanger is the 17th Sentai team. What's the significance? It's more bizarre than it is a compelling mystery. The beginning theme song isn't as fun or energetic as the original, and the end song is boring - though not much worse than the original. I also really miss Sayaka. All of Nobuo's moments with her in Season 1 were some of the funniest in the show. Overall, this was a really lackluster way to start Season 2. There was no conflict, the pacing and editing was unpleasantly hectic, it wasn't funny, and it was really low energy. It just didn't feel right. I hope things improve with Episode 2. Episode 1 just seemed really cheap and sloppy.

They had a finale and beat the bad guys, but they don't know that in doing so Saburo manipulated them into being official and replacing Dairanger. All of the "poor" & "choppy" editing in those altered scenes is intentional so that we as viewers can see how badly Saburo has rewritten the show. If it seems poorly put together it's intentional. They want us to see how he's screwed with them.

I think you may have missed the point of this season. Hate Saburo was manipulating them through out the first season into becoming an official sentai. They refused this and rebelled against their creator, and were then "cancelled". Now, Saburo has doctored the history of season one such that the characters don't realize anything is different. The change in story IS necessary because that's the point of Season 2.

He would see all of the twists and turns, but now, it seems like he's no longer acknowledging these things. It just doesn't feel as fun. Plus, why pick on Dairanger? And how can Saburo totally rewrite Sentai history? Why would we, the viewers, buy that plot? Why not just have Saburo make the Akibarangers the current, official Sentai team? |

I lost it when I saw Dr Maki with his little bug-man doll.

I get what they're trying to do, I just don't like how they went about it in the first episode. Maybe it's that it feels like a cop-out clip episode when I feel it should have started with a bang, or maybe it's the lack of self-awareness that I don't like.

Why not just have Saburo make the Akibarangers the current, official Sentai team? Anyway, this was a competent start. The rewrites were fine. The scene with the toy Machine Itasha fighting Drill Cyclops was amazing. I love how they made it important to not hit him with the "dere" sword. I'm curious and confused how Akiba is 17th. Did it replace Dairanger alone and just continue on with Kakuranger? Did the series in its entirety get pushed forward 20-something years so that the 17th series is the current one? I think it could go either way. It would be strange to have so much merchandise in that store for a 20 year old show. But it would be even stranger if they had Tora Origami, who may very well not exist, in the store. Guess we'll find out.

That was hilarious. It was hilarious thinking it was going to be just another clip show and then get thrown a curveball like that
![]() The stuff featuring Jetman, Dekaranger and Boukenger was gold. Especially the figuarts at the start. God I've missed this show.

[Akibaranger 2]-01
Not going to lie, I walked away pretty disappointed with this one. The first half especially just wasn't nearly as clever as Season 1. Typically, I'd be laughing constantly throughout an episode. Here, they only had like 3 moments that I found at all funny. The battles with toys and giant crossover battle were great, but something felt missing. I don't know, maybe they've run out of clever ways to lampoon sentai or maybe the writers just don't have as clever a material anymore. I hope that's not the case, but first episode has me really worried. Best part of the episode for me? There's a moment and character at the end that seem to be a Kamen Rider reference. That's the moment that had me laughing the most. |

I just watched it and I totally had no idea what exactly was going on. But now that I read through some comments and Den-O's explanation, it makes a little more sense now. Haha. I kind want to get Akiba-Red now but not the new one cause like others I don't exactly like the new "armor". Can't wait to see more!

I must be a special case here because I watched this raw and still got most of what was happening....
Just caught the sub too and here's my thoughts with the episode in full context. The Figuarts "battle" at the start was awesome and a great way to showoff upcoming figures. It's fun to see Hakase try and cover her tracks since in this new timeline they don't know she's Aoi-tan's seiyu. And since this clip establishes that they aren't aware of themselves being TV characters, that means that the episode 13 clip show never happened and Nobuo never found out the 'real life' Dekared was a paid dude in a suit ![]() Dekagold KozKoz cosplay makes me so, SO, happy. "I am no mere pervert!" - Deluknight ![]() Mistuki being recruited by the Pentagon is another "poorly" edited scene. Saburo spliced footage of an older Mitsuki into the scene and rewrote the dialogue so that she was the one chosen, not Nobuo. This completely ensured that the Akibarangers would not discover they were a show. That kind of rewrite didn't register with Nobuo as a Sentai Flag. It registered with him in season 1 because he was the Red being replaced, but a blue being scouted out of the team didn't alarm him. Saburo made it easy to overlook. LOVED the official sentai appearances. But I was disappointed that they didn't use the actual actors voices for at least some of the Dekarangers and Boukengers. I know some of them are still friendly with Toei after their appearances in Gokaiger and so on. I can't confirm this but would some of those voices happen to be the suit actors playing the parts? I know that Blue Swallow and Bouken Pink are supposed to appear in the show. The actual actresses. So using different voices in episode 1 seems very odd ![]() DAT. TOY. ITASHA. ROBO. BATTLE. Loved every damn second of it. Again, Saburo making use of a "limited budget" to re-write and re-film scenes for Season 2. Just amazing, and hilarious to see how cheap he can really be. And the soda can, dear god they brought soda can back even. And Maki's actor with Bae on his arm. Freaking awesome. Gosei Sentai Akibaranger had a pretty damn good first episode in my opinion ![]() And the ending theme is just damn brilliant.

Awesome awesome episode. It was funny, but why did they have to take over DaiRanger's spot? That is not cool Toei!!!
