Underwater. Like SeaQuest, but less lame, and with more subs. Or underwater cowboys that use rocket ships.

Wasn't Voltron Japanese already? Hmm...

Well if it features five smaller spaceships combining into a big spaceship/giant robot, then that is exactly what I am talking about.

Vehicle Voltron/Dairugger is 15 (Read: Fifteen) combining parts, and, if I recall, doesn't combine into one singular ship. It's not quite what you're looking for.
