(Tengen Toppa) Gurren Lagann.
Which funnily enough was by the makers of Kill la Kill.

The ultimate bluray one? I added it to my Amazon wishlist but it doesn't even have box art so I don't know anything about it. Minus a very big price tag.

It's gone way up in price since the preorder first went up. I think I'm paying like £80 for the Ultimate Edition. There's a more basic version coming out too, if you aren't bothered about the movies or the external extras. Although that seems to have jumped in price too...

I feel really downtrodden reading this, because there is no way I'd pay over a hundred pound for a series. Even if it's one I love. But seventy pounds isn't much better, especially considering I lose all of the goodies of the other version with very little actually saved and a huge amount spent.
I hadn't been following the bare bones version so I've no idea why that's so high priced. Maybe because they're still a relatively new distributor? After all, they're charging like £50 for the first 13 eps of Space Dandy on BD. Can't deny it sucks though. The French track was on the Beez DVD releases, so they're probably lifting that straight off them.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the US equivalent is some insane price like $550 and even though they've been able to slash that significantly it still has somewhat of a stranglehold on it. They've managed to get almost everything that was included in that set (minus the DS game OVA *grumble* and a couple of other bits) so the savings outweigh the cost for the Ultimate Edition I think.

I guess if this is just how it is I haven't got a choice then do I? If I want to own it at least. Dunno whether to bite the bullet now and hope it doesn't hike up another thirty quid, or to just wait for its release in two months time and see if the aftermarket is kind to me or hell on Earth. Dunno really much about how scalping can/does relate to UK Blurays of limited edition anime sets.

Yeah, I think AOT is definietly one of those animes where it's better to marathon. as I recall: there's two or three episodes back to back where they pretty much do nothing.
