Finished the DBZ movies today:
Brolli Second Coming - This movie has some good moments in it, but it is ultimately lackluster. There is just no way Brolli survived getting Goku's fist through his body, and yet, he somehow made it all of the way to Earth only to conveniently get frozen for 7 years. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. And of course, instead of just having Gohan use his power to defeat Brolli, we have to have Goku come down to save the day in ghost form. The best part of the movie is watching Trunks pee on Brolli. The writers do not even seem to know the concept of drabon ball with the randomness of them performing a wish without Shenron appearing, disappearing without giving a second wish, and every other plot hole imaginable, this movie sucks. I give it a 3/10 stars. Bio Brolli: Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, what the hell did I watch? This is without a doubt the worst of them all. The plot is just so damn stupid and boring. The only thing I give the movie points for is for having 18 wreck Satan's home and not having Goku come down to save the day. Other than that, thi movie sucks. I give it a 1/10 stars. Fusion Reborn: This movie is easily the best of them all. It has a unique plot to it, it is funny, and the fights are awesome. While Janemba is far from the most interesting villain in the series, the lack of any dialog from him is a nice change of pace. He is just there to kick ass and chew bubblegum, nothing more, nothing less. It is cool to see Freeza back for the whole 30 seconds he was there. The highlight of the movie is easily Hitler facing off against Goten and Trunks though. That was just awesome. Overall, I'm giving this one a 7/10. Oh, and I love the ending with Shenron. Wrath of the Dragon: This one is quite interesting because it seems to focus more on Trunks than anyone else, which makes it strangely good. Like Janemba, Hildegarn ends up being a unique villain for the heroes to face, which once again is nice. In fact, it seems Toei really played up their A game with their final two movies when it came to trying something new and in their animation department. The animation is just gorgeous and looks really high quality here. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the audio as it is extremely low to the point that I had to turn my receiver up almost to max. The story is interesting even if it is slow moving. Once again they seem to have forgotten the rules of the show though, as Shenron just leaves after one wish is made instead of two and Bulma somehow has Trunks' time machine. Despite these little flaws, I'm giving this movie a 7/10. And that is it as far as the DBZ movies are concerned. It was nice to rewatch them for the first time in nearly 6 years, but it was also a refresher for me on why I don't want them all that often. In fact, if it weren't for them having Dragonball Z in their titles, I wouldn't keep them. Still, they are vastly superior to what Toei gave us with GT as regardless for these movies' issues, they don't just completely jack up the characters themselves. |

Eureka Seven episode 1
The LFOs surfing on giant surfboards isn't as weird as I first thought. Also, I didn't know that getting the main character's home attacked in the first few episodes wasn't a trope exclusive to Gundam. Looking at it now, the animation doesn't look as weird as I thought it did. But I'm gonna have some Reconguista lapses when I'm watching this so be warned. Also, I just watched two mecha animes in a row where the charcaters have to use something to be able to control the mecha. Episode 2 Damn, girls are really powerful if Renton is willing to go with a bunch of wanted dudes in a giant robot after he just activated god mode and a rainbow nuke. Guess that's his horomones though. I will admit she is cute though. Is the girl a robot? Because when the grandpa said that she'll understand when she'll have kids and she was about to correct him, I don't think being infertile is a plot point in these kinds of shows. I'm sold on Eureka 7. The mecha designs are cool, I'm interested in what's going on and am willing to get lost in this world. Episode 3 So she's called Eureka? Huh. Usually shows are named after the mechs not the girl... And we have a ship! that fight scene was badass though. Oh no. Nononononononononononnononono. Please don't tell me we have 3 shitty comic relief kids in a mecha anime. I had to deal with that shit for 3 Gundam series, I don't want to do it again. I also found out Johnny Young Bosch voiced Renton. I swear, this dude is like half of my favorite main characters lol. Last edited by Powerman293; 08-30-2014 at 10:33 PM.. |

They stop bothering so much pretty quickly, around ep 8 iirc. True that. ![]() Yeah, it's odd. |

Macross Plus: Everything returns to Eden.
After his one thousand mistake UN pilot Isamu is sent back to his home city of Eden to become a test pilot in Project Super Nova, interestingly enough his childhood friend a life long rival Guld is also a test pilot at New Edwards base, and if that wasn't enough their old love is back in town, as the producer of the virtual idol Sharon Apples. In the middle of their personal struggles, the old friends will choose the path the UN Spacy takes, will the YF-19 and it's pilot trump? Or will the mind controlled YF-21 prove to be the Valkyrie of the future? Perhaps removing human input from the equation is the true way to go? Macross Plus might be a more personal story comapred to other entries in the franchise, but that doesn't mean the stakes are any lower, the arms race in the middle of a time of peace is really interesting, the way the characters confront each other and evolve is excellent and the amazing animation holds up to this day. The music is great, Sharon's tunes are unnatural and unnerving, perfectly fitting for their role, the background music is impressive as well, if a little "eager" so to easy, it really wants to be heard, and at times it's a little bit distracting, Voices is a memorable theme, and it all falls in palce seamlessly. Macross Plus is a superb anime, at only 4 epsiodes it tells an enjoyable short story, and is great introduction point to the franchise, this isn't a huge space opera, it's not a direct continuation to the original anime, it's a personal story that's easy to get into and has ramifications that continued for years. |

Eureka 7 Episode 4
The main thing Renton learned about the Gekkostate:"We're smugglers duuuuuuuude. We don't show off in public, man" That geyser was beautiful, man. Nice to see this mini arc with Renton. Usually a show would skip something realistic like post-joining boredom but I'm glad this episode was devoted to it. Also, those little kids hanging out with Eureka aren't her kids. Could you imagine if they were? I imagine Renton would be really imitated about Eureka having sexual experience lol. And a previous lover. But that would have fucked with me if I found out a girl I liked had kids at 14. The more I listen to Renton, the more I hear bits of Adachi and Yu from Persona 4. Also, that opening them is beautiful. I think I can tell I'm going to really love a show if it has a great opening theme first episode and it gets better and better every time I hear it. Episode 5 The first half of this episode was pretty good. I think i relate to Renton quite a bit because I fuck up unintentionally quite a lot and I worry that people won't like me as much as a result. It was also nice to learn about Tohoe. I like the fact that I was expecting some awkward "I unintentionally ended up in a pervy situation," and it turned out completely different. Like Tohoe leaning in to Renton and him expecting a kiss. Its also nice to see moral support from everybody for Renton, and half of the things he fears are in his head. I still don't like those shitty kids but they don't run around like in Gundam. This series seems really peaceful so far. Yeah, there's fights and I imagine a save the world plot will become the end of the show, but just from the interactions between Renton and everybody, its just sort of calming. I've heard people describe Turn A this way but I thought that show was boring. It also helps that Renton's relationship with Eureka is very wholesome and clean. Its a nice thing to see something like that. Because when I was 14, my hormones were on max level and I was thinking straight to the nasty stuff, so it's nice to even hear his internal monologue be innocent and sweet. Episode 6 I still don't like these shitty kids. No matter how much they throw at me to make me feel sorry for them. But using the Nirvash to spray that drawing on the military base was awesome. I wouldn't call Renton getting confined with 4 other people, one of them being the girl he likes, punishment. And that white haired dude killed the King?
