Using examples of DBZ and other franchises makes little sense. They have a bigger market in the US than they do for Japan, hence why the US takes priority. They can make a lot of money from them here and still sell them as exclusives for those who want them in Japan. That's absolutely not the case with Sentai/Power Rangers, since nobody in Japan is going to know who these characters are. It's awesome that they're putting in so much effort for such a small fanbase, but it is a very small fanbase here, not big enough to create a line of figures solely aimed at us.
I'm not claiming Bluefin have no influence, if there's enough demand for a particular series from us, I'm sure Tamashii will take notice. But like I said, it's no different than if Toys r Us were running the poll, they can give suggestions based on our feedback, but they're not the ones actually making the figures. I see your point about Bluefin, we don't work for them, how should we know if they really do anything or not. Well our point about DBZ and Megaman is that Bluefin can make things happen. Those US based lines that continue to thrive off of fan feedback. And again I believe the Ranger fanbase is there for a Exclusive figure to be made. Bluefin is a distributor of BoJ for the US and it's retail markets, such as online retails like amazon or bbts, hobby and specialty shops. While TRU is a major chain retailer. Bluefin has amazing communications with their fans and followers as well. While that doesn't exist for TRU. Overall I think US exclusive rangers and villians are much more possible than you make them out to be. Bluefin has such great communication with is follower theres no way these figures wouldn't catch fire. I think the fanbase is at the right level of demand and that the figures would still profit over seas. TITANIUM RANGER! ![]() Quote:

I'll admit, I do have a soft spot for DBZ. But, that's only because I'm an anime fan. DBZ doesn't have the brand recognition that Power Rangers does, which is why only anime people remember it.

![]() But your right. DBZ has a generation behind it. The Rangers have several. I love them both! I bet you top dollar Goku would end 199 hero battle in a heartbeat though. ![]()

Nonono, Simon piloting Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is the most powerful character of all time. Him or Silver Age Superman, who was constantly getting new powers all the time.

I'm sorry, but we are talking about fucking Power Rangers, right? The franchise that has been CONSISTENTLY popular since their introduction and has ALWAYS been mentioned in the same breath as Transformers and GI Joe when it comes to franchises for boys?
Dragon Ball Z and Megaman have NOTHING on Power Rangers when it comes to popularity, and yet you're saying that they can get lines that are basically kept alive by American collectors, but fucking POWER RANGERS can't? Explain this to me, because it is doing my fucking head in. I'm not underestimating Power Rangers popularity. But that popularity comes from young kids, not grown fans. We already know that expensive toys don't sell to kids here, this is why we always get far crappier/cheaper versions of the morphers and zords. The adult collector fanbase is rather small, unlike those for DBZ or Transformers, where the older, anime loving crowd is huge and buys all of those collectibles. The amount of Shinken Red's shelf warming can't just be ignored either, it's literally proven that these things won't sell on a mass scale. There's enough fans to keep them being brought over, which is awesome.. but creating entirely new figures and moulds just to sell to us, is pushing your luck just a bit. |

Again, that is completely ignoring the fact that the DBZ Figuarts and Megaman D-Arts are operating entirely off the profits from American fans. If the American fans of those lines stopped collecting them, they would cease to exist. I don't see why American Power Rangers can't support a line of American only Power Rangers when those two aforementioned lines exist.
Also, I don't think the shelf-warming Shinken Red's are proof that they won't sell at Mass Retail, rather that Hardcore Power Rangers fans just didn't really care about Samurai, so they didn't feel like buying a slightly more high end version of the Red Ranger from that show. Now, if the figure in question was Lord Zedd, a character that Hardcore Power Rangers fans actually care about, then yeah; they'd probably sell because of that appeal. Not to mention, these don't really need to be sold in TRUs; Blufin can easily distribute them through BBTS, like they've done with the DBZ Figuarts and the Megaman D-Arts. |
