Anguirus is a fan favorite, especially here in the States. Baragon is a huge fan favorite in Japan, owing primarily to his appearance in Frankenstein Conquers The World. I think it's a good chance we'll see both of them

Heck, they could probably use the same basic buck for the two of them.

Is he? I guess because I don't really watch movies featuring him, I always felt he was more of a one note character.
I know Baragon has a weird fan following, though. Never quite knew why, but eh, not gonna question it

Baragon's a weird one. He's very popular, like I said, from Frankenstein Conquers the World (Frankenstein Tai Baragon in Japan). That movie was very popular, but Toho had trouble using Frankenstein in any sequels; hence War Of The Gargantuas' Sanda and Gaira don't look much like Frank. Baragon was seemingly always slated to be used in a later film, but 9 times out of 10 the suit was in use over on Ultraman! Almost all of the quadrupedal monsters on the Ultra shows used at least part of the Baragon suit.

Hence Gorosaurus "standing in" for Baragon in Destroy All Monsters; the reason why the Arc d'Triumph is destroyed by Gorosaurus burrowing under it is because the scene was written for Baragon. The dialogue in the dub still calls the monster Baragon. Gorosaurus had never been seen to burrow and it really makes no sense that he can burrow when you think about it.

Similarly, Anguirus's bit in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla was written for Baragon; this is why Anji burrows away after the disguised MG beats the tar out of him. Anji had never displayed this power before that film, either.

Anguirus, a lot of people seem to like him because he's so low on the power scale but he has a very tough guy attitude. Witness in Destroy All Monsters where he charges right at King Ghidorah and clamps down on his neck. And he enjoys the same clout as Rodan and Mothra (and King Seesar, as well) as Goji's allies. Anji disappeared for a long time but he has sort of resurged in popularity in the modern period, especially with all of his video game appearances.

Plus he has a great roar!
