Just caught it subbed and loved it. I real loved the train fight even if the CGI was not the best, it is nice to see the individual Ressha go at it agents the Shadow trains. I hope we get to see that MotW again just for the costume alone even if he's a cheat.

I am liking it more. Sure they are all dead, and all things are explained by IMAGINATION. But It is good.
I've also notice Toei loves there red rangers with English words for names, Right, Marvelous, King.. |

"They treat switching like a toy gimmick"
![]() I continue to love this shows humor and ability to reasonably break the 4th wall.

Really liked this episode. The show built up a big chunk of its mythology today and I'm finding it very fascinating so far. I like the idea of how the stations seem to work and what happens when the Shadow Line takes one over. It seems to explain what's up with our heroes, but apparently that's not quite all there is to it. Very curious to find out more.
We got a lot of stuff with Hikari this week, which totally makes up for him being largely ignored in the pilot. I like how he serves as the grounded member of the team and works to keep them all grounded when Right starts getting carried away. Honestly, though, I'm liking all of the characters at this point. The action was good, too. I liked the train duel, even if some of the greenscreen was a little dodgy in places. It's probably still a little early to tell, but so far I am loving this show. Definitely. But at the same time it still manages to be serious and kind of dark in places (forcing the townspeople to randomly duel on a regular basis is really effed up - especially since we know, even if we don't see it play out, that kids aren't exempt). It's a good mix of humor and drama where both work and neither feels out of place. Last edited by Switchblade; 02-25-2014 at 12:01 AM.. |

The train duel was magnificent. When I watched the livestream it was hard ot take it all in because of the video quality. But the HD here more than makes up for it. This battle was funa and well though out. Having a semi-honorable villain was also a unique touch, even if he cheated at the end.
And is it just me or are we seeing early hints of Greeta being in love with Schwarz? Or as I've affectionately taken to calling him, the most death metal badass villain design ever AKA robo hitler.

ToQger is the only show where I actually watch the credits, dat themesong.
It's kinda weird for me to watch a toku episode that connects on almost every level. Firstly was the balance between drama and comedy, the Duel Fields thing turned out to be a deliciously dark concept - plus with the overarching conflict of the news the ToQgers learnt last episode it was all pretty grim indeed. The humour that existed to balanced it actually worked really well, and never left me groaning or feeling like the drama had been drained out of the scene. The self aware action in this show works so much better than it does in Kyoryuger, "They treat line switching like it's a toy gimmick." and the way Tokku 2's tracks slip like his glasses. It's so silly, but it isn't juvenile in its silliness, it's fun. Like that train duel, WONDERFUL. It's just great. Great effects, great designs, great humour. Love it. Obviously it's too early to say this team is great...but this team is great. We've got the happy go lucky red, but then he actually has genuine support from his team which makes a really nice change after watching Kyoryuger. The only real downside is right now Two and Five seem to just exist for comic relief, but since in two episodes we've established Right is the hero, Hikari is the anchor and Mio as the voice of reason really gives me hope this may be a sentai with a genuine team dynamic like Goseiger had. My only real issues with the episode are superficial things like the train boner, and Wagon is SO annoying but if she's isolated to just a few short scenes I wont mind. If she ends up taking over the show Candi style, we're gonna have fallings out. Other complaints are the same as I have with every sentai show, like obvious soundstages and it's a shame that after Kyoryuger, this show appears to have gone back to the mech designs of the days of flimsy wobbliness. But overall, fantastic!
