Well, hopefully the marketing team is up to the task, that is, if they're still intent on releasing this movie on time.

Movie success more often comes down to marketing than actual content. Far too many movies killed in summer due to poor marketing.

One of the reasons why MMPR: The Movie '95 didn't do so hot because it got over shadow by other movies that where popular with kids like Batman: Forever and Pocahontas. I do want this movie to do well and being crush by other popular movies will hurt this movie on doing well on it's first week.

MMPR: The Movie and Turbo:A Power Rangers Movie catered to the people who were already Power Ranger Fans. Anyone who didn't follow Power Rangers and watched those films didn't understand what was going on. That's one of the reasons why they did poorly at the box office and movie critics.

This new movie is going to be a reboot. Its a retelling of their origins and fresh take on it so anyone with no knowledge of Power Rangers can watch it and understand it.

Liongate needs to advertise this to the mainstream so that the movie can succeed. If they advertise this movie as only for the Power Ranger fans, then it will bomb again like MMPR: The Movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie.

The first MMPR movie made $66,433,194 worldwide on a 16 million budget. Not a huge hit but not a total failure neither. It could have done better seeing how popular the show was. I won't call it a flop or box office bomb.

With 3D tickets and overseas market, I think the Lionsgate film will likely made more money then both films combine. China and Korea will likely be the big money maker for the movie's box office overseas. I doubt Japan will care about the movie that much since they have Super Sentai.

Didn't Dragon Knight outperform Ryuki when it was brought back to Japan? And the 2014 Godzilla was wildly popular in Japan. They're not shy to let their home studios know that America has the potential to outperform them.

The CG for the movie was bad back then. Even in 1995 people thought the CG look like shit. Four years after Terminator 2, you would think CG would start to pick up better by then. I mean Beast Wars came out around the same time and it looked better.

Thing is I liked it at first but upon seeing the toy I lost faith in humanity for about an hour that one magical visit to Toys r'us.
