Or at least don't make them Power Rangers from the start, including the head honcho. If they wanted them on the team but want to skip past the training, I would have made Jack blue first with Sky as red but Sky's attitude ends up getting him demoted and Jack promoted, leaving the dynamic between Jack and Sky to function around the fact that Sky has to accept his faults and understand why he was demoted, if he ever wants to become Red again and maybe just maybe Sky and Jack can be friends by the end of it as well.

And it would have been easy to do. Show the other three coming into conflict with them during training and then the first episode ends with Jack and Z being brought into the academy with Sky objecting but no one has become a ranger yet. Since premieres are usually two parts episode two would be months later and they all finally become rangers. I mean, Dino Thunder has quick little scene with Tommy to start and then it jumps forward a few years. I get that they were all chosen because they have powers and backstory but putting the rookie in charge day one just doesn't happen in real life. At minimum start Jack off as sharing the command with Sky.

It makes even less sense as well because Kalish clearly had a HUGE budget, so if the Sentai footage didn't quite fit the dynamic and your characters, shoot some new stuff. I think that is the biggest reason why this decision feels so out of place.

So I've decided to sit down and give SPD another chance since I did not care for it when it first aired as I am in the mood for some Deka footage and the quality on the Deka subs are horrible. I just finished episode 3 and the show right now is not bad by any means, but I really really cannot take Grumm seriously, especially when he is walking the little girl back to her room.

Lol I literally just finished that show and was so glad when it was over. The only thing I truly liked in the series was Sky and the stories surrounding him.

Well I'm now 18 episodes into SPD and I am actually enjoying the show. I still don't like Disco Skeletor, and Morgana is getting on my nerves with just one episode, but overall, I'm enjoying it. The last episode I watched had a samurai alien and the rangers had to go to Japan, which is probably my favorite episode of the series thus far. Sadly, one of my favorite DekaRanger episodes was ruined by the SPD equivalent of the AbarePink episode with stupid Boom and his Orange Ranger lies. I do wish the rangers actually got some development though. I mean, sure, they did not have too much development in DekaRanger, but I was hoping that being a PR incarnation they would do more to make me not want to smack the **** out of Pink and wonder why the hell Doggie has such a short temper. It seems like he just randomly goes off on the rangers for something that occurred off screen. So far, Sky and Bridge seem to be the only ones with any development, and even that has kind of teetered off. Hell, Z hasn't had anything since the Sam two parter an Pinky is just there to act like a dumb spoiled blonde. Despite that, I am curious to see where this show is heading.

Sky is the only one with character development. Everyone else is just kinda....there, that was one of my major complaints with the series. I'm not exaggerating, Z's character arc ends in that Sam two parter, for the rest of the series she is just a background ornament.

Sky was a good character, so I didn't mind that much especially as most of his episodes were really well written, but I found it odd that they basically centred the entire show around him and basically put all their effort into him and his arc and seemed to rather begrudgingly write stuff for the other characters

Especially when they could have easily fleshed out those characters. Even Syd had potential for better stories. Doggie doesn't like when people disturb his naps or something maybe. He's just a grump most of the time but he did have his whole planet destroyed...

Yeah when Syd recognised her selfish actions caused problems for the team, I expected that to reflect in her character and to see her grow from there but no.

Doggie had a character arc of sorts, as Grrumm killed his entire race and he swore never to battle again, until he took up arms to save Kat. This was all fine until randomly his wife turned out to be alive again in like the last five minutes of the show, meaning that the suggested romance between Kruger and Kat for the whole series never amounted to anything.

So yeah, that made no sense. I just finished episode 32 and something seemed to be jacked up as Morgana was Moira again even though she was Morgana when she fought the DinoThunder rangers and there was no sign of Broodwing's monster...

The ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff...

I'll go over more, as I'm about to watch 33.
