So I'm watching Greco again. And its not as bad as when I first tried it. not great, but not entirely bad.
Fuck everyone who defended it. Not for anything that the series does, but because any time I saw someone defend it, they were being absolute douchebags and can all go eat shit. Tomino's trolling is fine with me too. He can make what he wants and that's perfectly fine with me.

So I just watched the first episode of Iron Blooded Orphans and it was fantastic. The plot was a little too fast paced to establish too much, but hopefully next episode can delve a bit more into some parts without trying to hook people immediately.
I'm really interested in the world so far. What do the implants in all these kids' backs do to help them pilot the workers? What is Gjallarhorns' motives and goal? What was going on in that flashback? What even was the great war they were referencing, what even is the Gundam? And yes, the no shirt in the cockpit thing we saw in the trailers is actually part of the plot of the show not just to show some sexy man abs. And despite the some of the main characters having that Gundam Age aesthetic to them, the main character and Orga have nice deep voices. I felt like there were lots of little callbacks to other Gundam shows in this opening episode. The flashback was very 00-ish(plus the whole child solider thing). McGillis monolouging on his ship kinda reminds me of Zechs chillin' in space in the beginning of Gundam Wing. And some 8th MS team in there with groundedness. Something I did not expect, however, was the mobile workers to be much, much smaller then the size of the MSes. I mean, it's just sad to see this maybe 7 foot tall metal box with guns go up against a 60 ft war machine. Can't wait for next week's episode. obviously I'm not gonna stay up until 3AM for every episode but damn it, this show is good so far. Last edited by Powerman293; 10-04-2015 at 06:18 AM.. |

Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans Episode 1: Well this is my first time watching Gundam in a long time (I haven't watched it since Gundam Wing). The previews of this interested me a lot. I was right I enjoyed this a lot. Orga and Mika remind me a lot of Worick and Nico from Gangsta. That’s really cool because I like characters like that. A duo of a leader and a guy who gets things done. I enjoy Mika’s strength and determination and Orga’s courage too. I am intrigued with Aina as well and her wanting to learn about the Third Corps pain. The battle was awesome and I love this new Gundam too, it looks awesome. I am enjoying the politic nature of this as well and seeing what goes on here. Well I definitely enjoyed it and I can’t wait for more.

I haven't really followed any news about this series since it's initial announcement so a lot of the context was lost of me here. Hopefully things will be clarified a bit better in future episodes but there was at least enough here to follow what was going on.
And I liked it a lot! The art was great, the characters all very likeable and the setting interesting. I thought G-Reco was good at first so I'm gonna stay very wary for now, but I at least like what I saw here.

There's some strange copyright BS reason for why Gundam.info blocks simulcasts in the US except for Build Fighters (BF got by on a loophole of being Gunpla rather than Gundam). Other countries are blocked in similar ways and it appears Gundam.info can only simulcast to Asia and sometimes Australia. |

US simulcast of Iron Blooded Orphans will be handled by Crunchyroll and Funimation. The simulcast has not started yet. It was probably a last minute deal.
