Yeah. Pinkie Pie and Twilight were older characters, while Fluttershy is a fusion of like, 3 characters, and Rarity, being the rarity that she is, is quite unique~

Eh, I got bored during the wait between S2 and S3, so I decided to research them (Oh, I forgot. Spike is G1, too)
I didn't really learn much (I tended to react with "OMG WHAT'S WRONG WITH THEIR FACES!?" most of the time ), but it was fun.

Tirek and Scorpan were also G1 characters

Spike's from Gen 1 too.
(Rarity is pretty cool. I used to hate her for being snobby... sometimes at least. But she grew on me somewhere down the road and she became one of my favorites. )

I hated Rarity when I first started watching.
I initially gravitated towards Dashie because she was the tomboy and wasn't as "Girly," so to speak. Meanwhile, Rarity was basically the epitome of what I didn't want to be associated with, being a feminine fashion designer who enjoyed pretty things and generally acted like a stereotypical girl.
However, I soon realized my error, as Dash felt like a one note character "I'M NOT GIRLY! LET ME SHOW HOW UN-GIRLY I AM!" while Rarity felt more interesting and, as I continued, tended to be funnier. Her overreactions and attitude was just much more fun than the others.
And she's gorgeous~
