So... UW Bruticus...
I'm happy I have him. He looks wonderful combined. Separately they're quite the mixed bag. (But do still feel a bit pissed over the price, which may be souring my mood on him, and it all boils down to shipping being so incredibly high.) Vortex: I was one of those people who really wanted a four-bladed Vortex. And we got that. But I kind of understand now why Hasbro wouldn't do it. To be fair, I think it might be more manageable if the blades would fold up in robot mode like the official pictures and instructions indicate - the lower two very closely hugging the hinge of the top two. But mine is simply incapable of doing that. They aren't designed to collapse that far so they either start popping out of the hinge or the pressure forces them to spread back out. So that leaves the blades all around rather unwieldy and ugly. But hey, helicopter mode looks great because of them haha. And I do still prefer his colors. Brawl: Brawl's still horrible. Waist flops around just like the Hasbro release. Nothing else to report here, though I did actually end up liking the paint scheme on his head in hand. Blast Off: Here is, sadly, where most of my disappointment lies. The set in general has some tolerance issues with legs not really wanting to peg together, but my Blast Off is probably the worst. The tailfin really doesn't want to hold together either. And that's a real shame. Because I really do rather like him in shuttle mode and robot mode. But dealing with him in arm mode is annoying. I also wouldn't have minded a darker shade of brown, but the caramel he is is not the orange so many lambasted him for from preview pictures. Only thing I don't like about the color scheme is that damn splash of purple on the forehead. Really does look so dumb. EDIT: Totally forgot to mention his neck! A design flaw pretty much everyone's experiencing caused the neck and head to just completely pop out because it's under too much pressure from the combiner peg and the fin on it has to slide through at the perfect angle (though just moving the head sometimes is enough to do it, no touching of the larger part needed at all). That is super annoying. Swindle: Oh man I like Swindle. Only thing wrong with mine are again some tolerance issues holding the legs together at times. But overall I like his look and just enjoy him as a toy. Excellent change to the Rook mold. Onslaught: And Onslaught I have no issues with. Beautifully painted and still just a solid figure. Bruticus: The real reason to get this set and yeah he's good. If I had one nitpick (ignoring the tolerance issues of the individual components) it's the white faceplate. It's more silver in the official pictures which looks fine, but the white it actually is just stands out and looks odd. As a whole package, Bruticus is up there as one of the better combiners in my book though. Oh I also got the MP Wheeljack re-release (so cheap I caved). He's alright. Need to play with him more but presently tied with Tracks as the least favorite Masterpiece I own, but that isn't to say there's anything particularly wrong with him. He's just.. okay.

perfect Effect is making a third party Optimal Optimus that's in scale with the beast wars generations figures:

That's neat, though admittedly, it's my least favorite version of Primal.
However, I'm really glad to see them tucking the guns away so he looks far more show accurate, so I'm down.

Yeah as amazing as it looks, I know I won't bite because of the inevitably high price. Oh well. Will enjoy looking at pictures and (hopefully, if the ones I subscribe to get him) watching videos of him.

Mom got me Optimal Optimus for my birthday, but the GPS costed my copy the ability to form air guardian and roller modes. Seeing this makes me happy that we're getting a 3rd party Transmetal and sad since it reminds me of happier times. |

No. Just a few weak points.
As an adult, it's easy to handle, but for a kid, it's not too difficult to break. My brother accidentally broke off the ape head, for example.
